Worst win in program history?

Firmed up our hold on fifth place.

Team wasn't prepared to play, that's a coaching problem. Said it about Stitt. Say the same about Bob.

We're four years into this Hauck deal. I think it really hurts a team to throw out the playbooks after every few years. We did that from Pflugrad through now and it hurts this team badly.

That said, we need to look at how quickly other teams have turned things around. Four years seems like enough. There should be changes being made by Bobby esp if he loses to the cats who are not only under a new coach, but a coach new to being a head coach.

You do realize they won 10 games in year 2 and lost year 3 by not playing.

I think his point about the usual excuses like "Hauck has to get his recruits in the program", or "it takes more than three years to expect results" is not supported by the success of other teams/coaches. Sac. State, who was a bottom-feeder for many years, is leading the Big Sky in Troy Taylor, in his second year as head coach.

As I have said in another thread, Hauck and his coaches are losing the out-of-state recruiting battles to other Big Sky teams, including the Bobcats.

Not sure why losing out of state kids is surprising. Other teams have been winning more and teams like EWU, NAU, Sac, and Davis have found ways to keep their in-state kids home. The Griz have lost the allure, the persona that Read and Hauck built. Kids don't consider Montana anymore just because it is Montana. Hell, I will probably upset some, but I wouldn't even consider Bobby one of the top 3 head coaches in the BSC.

Obviously!

And when they lose to Idaho next week it was from “griz hangover”. This and the “other teams Super Bowl” are easily two of my favorite egriz sayings.

Look, it's clearly a lame excuse, but to ignore that it's a real phenomenon doesn't make sense either. Teams DO play better in WaGriz than the do in, say, greeley.
Likely somewhere in the middle EG.

We play in the Big Sky. Obviously your home field is top dog with the Cats right behind. Everyone else is tied for last in regards to gameday experience. No doubt the opponents get a little more fired up actually getting to play in front of fans.

But it’s just an excuse at this point. It’s not 20 years ago. Every time a team comes in and beats the griz or plays them tough it’s because it’s their “super bowl”. Sometimes I honestly believe some posters here think it’s 2000.

Every time a good team loses after playing the griz it’s because of a “hangover” from playing the griz. It’s laughable.

You guys have a great venue and great fans. Though I noticed many decided not to stick around today. But I think you guys put a little too much stock in the allure of wash-griz to suggest teams come in there and play so much better because it’s their Super Bowl. Maybe some teams are just good, regardless of venue. Or maybe, just possibly, the griz are just average right now.

At some point I’d think even griz faithful would realize it’s not 2000, and teams can come into Missoula and be competitive without it being solely because it’s their one game of the year to play really hard and try because it’s their super bowl.

I belive what has changed with Griz football and maybe UM as a whole is that they no longer play to win. Instead they play not to lose. Every since that JJ debacle it feels as if Griz football has lost its edge. Occasionally, we see glimpses of it but they are fleeting.

Yes to all of it. Well said.

The other thing I will say, is as teams started to use silent snapcounts, you can see noise not creating nearly the issue it used to. Teams are more prepared to come into loud venues.
