Womens Tournament Scores

LG missed the first 14 shots of the second half.

Or was it first 13? Finally made one at 9:22 to go in half. Then missed 2 more. Then hit the 2d one of half at 6:55. Made 10 free throws during these 13 minutes, I think.

The football team dominated the student section, especially during the first half. Big, loud and rowdy. DeCuire sat behind the Lady Griz bench during the first half, with one of his kids.

The Big Sky conference has to be thanking its lucky stars to have both tournaments in the same venue and, in particular, this venue. It puts everybody in the same place and has a real tournament atmosphere. UM likely has the most experienced staff to handle two simultaneous events like this at the same time, and is doing a bang up job of doing it. Frankly, I doubt there is another venue in the Big Sky that could do this as well.

Just going by what the announcer said. He may have been wrong.

Experienced #1 seed vs. #8 in first round....up huge early. Lady Griz got the huge lead by pushing the ball up court and getting layins and quick movement into their offense. Then in second half they tighten up, slow it down, brick it up, clang FT's, entry passes to horrible position vs. a full court press and so on.

Can't recall the exact lead with 5 or 10 seconds left.....but Lady Griz go over the top against the full court press to the league MVP who has three more dribbles for an uncontested layup to seal it....and she pulls it out and avoids the game sealing bucket. Seconds later Selvig's falling over on in bounds pass and handing the ball to ISU to get it within 2.

Play to win......not "NOT TO LOSE".

Feller got called for a block on a drive by Woods (what a game she had!) and got knocked into the bottom of the basket stand at an awkward angle headfirst. Played the whole second half with it so probably not serious.

Got it. I counted 13 misses in the play by play last night. Paper said 13 today. UM was f4 of 22 shooting in second half. Missed 10 free throws in 2d half, including front end of several 1-and 1's.
While it got way way closer than I expected, I wasn't worried for even a second. Several odd plays, bad decisions, and questionable calls by refs, at the end, made it much closer than it should have been--combined with the poor shooting and missed free throws in 2d half. Captain America seemed to have a crush on the athletic and high-scoring IS player. Even when she'd throw up a bad and off balance shot off of a drive when she was well-defended, he'd bail her out with a belated foul call if she fell when she came down. She seemed to figure out that if she fell at the end, he'd blow his whistle as she hit the floor--no matter where he was on the court.

She also got hit in the face twice, and was down with a torso injury when she tried for a steal out front but got a foul instead.

looked into the LG game...another blown lead according to announcers but someone needs to coach up the LG on the double team play..they seem clueless and they depend upon the long and slow bounce pass along with the three point shot. Very predictable play. Looks exactly like the team I saw 8 years ago...I guess they are good for the Big Sky and that might just be apex desired. So, all in all, they win more than they lose..as long as the competition is BSC level.

Yeah you are right GrizLA. Robin just can't coach. Coach of the year 21 times proves it. We all wish you were running the show.

hmm, that is your judgment, not mine. Mine is that they are predictable and slow and tend to take the 3 pt shot, not to mention slow and long cross court bounce passes, and a seeming inability because of that to fight off the double team. But never mind. It is what it is and will be...so why do you think Selvig can't coach? I 'm curious how you come to that decision.

Your sarcasm detector seems to be broken...or non-existent. :?

LA is correct, however, his comments apply to all of the Big Sky teams. They aren't too good. My comment, not LA's.

Ladies down 22-10 to NCU. Haven't been able to throw the ball in the ocean while standing right next to it this half. 6:55 left. Ladies went up 6-1, then went 7ish minutes without scoring.
