With 8 Home Games…..

With 8 home games next year we’re talking in excess of $8,000,000 pumped into the community. It’s time for the merchants, hotels, restaurants and bars to pony up. The “establishment “ has been feeding off this fat cow for to long. It’s time to pay the Piper.
The NIL is ruining college athletics but until changes are made we have to live with it. If we don’t get into the game that $8M could easily be cut in half, or even more. The so called “establishment's” need to become proactive and contribute 3% of their profits towards the NIL. 3% of the $8M is equivalent to a quarter million dollars.
If our athletic programs are unable to be competitive because we don’t have the resources (NIL) to attract 3 and 4 star recruits that $8M number will quickly become significantly lower.
THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW!!!!!!

Only problem with this theory is that the commercial enterprises in Missoula will only commit to a 2 or 3% payout for NIL if they increase food and accommodations prices commensurately. We used to have season tickets but gave them up years ago when it was clear that the hotels jacked up their room prices every time there was a home game. With eight home games, they must be licking their chops this coming season. Sorry, Missoula, I just can't afford ya anymore. Staying home and watching with popcorn.

Sorry you can no longer afford it, but there's a reason the very first concept taught in Econ 101 is Supply and Demand.

When I had season tickets at Texas Tech the hotels would do the same thing. As soon as the schedule came out they’d raise prices for home game weekends. So this is what I did:

Each year before the schedule was released, I booked a room for EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND from 9/1-11/20…at regular rack rates. Then after the schedule was released I cancelled all the away game weekends. Always ended up paying only about 1/2-1/3 of the going rate come game time.

I am sorry the hotels jack up the prices. I have heard this from more than a few people. I’m glad we live in Missoula and can just catch the bus at Marvin’s to go to and from the game. And the folks at Marvin’s now know us and have our bloody Marys ready almost before we sit down. It is a great way to start off game day.

We've had a different response to the Missoula establishments ripping us off. Coming from the East, we stay in Anaconda, love it, they love us. Ghost town but still some good friendly accommodations and eateries. Breaks up our 300+ mile drive either or both ways. We're not fans of today's Missoula. We just enjoy the game and bolt.

Stayed at the Forge? It’s a shame that the new Barclay II doesn’t quite measure up to the old one.

That's a phenomenal idea. Great bars downtown too.

Maybe Montana offers Portland State to play at Montana instead of an away game again and they agree making for a 9th home game?
