Winning Programs Matter

Winning increases student enrollment, institution revenue, local and state economic revenue, and elevates the the reputation of the school.

The revenue increased through winning athletic programs increases brand awareness for universities.

Aside from the Washingtons, Gallaghers, and the Jeff Ament and Harry Belafonte, when is the last time the school received any kind or substantial donation to improve academic facilities and programs? They don’t. That money comes from revenue largely generated by students, alumni, and unfortunately tax payers.

Sadly no one actually cares if the Volleyball team, Womens Basketball team, Softball team, soccer team, or badminton team win championships and titles
Who actually knew or cared that MSU had a 7 time National Championship Rodeo team? No one. Not one single person other than the rodeo people and their families care either.

Where did the money come from for the indoor bouncy castle training facility? It wasn’t generated by the any of the other sports.

Football and Men’s Basketball are massive revenue and prestige generating machines, and right now, UMs machine is outdated and continually breaking down.

Yeah, I detest Bob Hauck on every level, but, IF he was winning, IF the football team was in the playoffs the last four years (give minus year-C) I would still detest him the man. However, I wouldn’t be arguably the biggest loudmouth on egriz screaming for his immediate dismissal (which isn’t gonna happen unfortunately for everyone but the Hauck family and their friends). I would be incredibly happy for the team, athletic department, school and Missoula.

That isn’t happening, it hasn’t happened and it isn’t going to happen. Because of that, MILLIONS went to “Bozangeles” from CGD. Millions more will go into states coffers. Our school will suffer while the redneck, goat roping neighbors prosper from it. For me, as a native Missoulian, brought into this world ingrained with everything UM, that is absolutely unacceptable.

Those people on this forum who say calm down, relax, it’s just a game… really? Naw man, it’s more than a game. It’s money in our businesses, tips in our waitstaffs pockets, needed revenue injected into the local economy.

College sports is big business in todays world. I appreciate the people who played, helped create what we have today, but this transcends the good ol’ college try now.

Winning matters, and short of committing felonies, the university, boosters, QB club, alumni, and fans should be doing whatever it takes to make UM the Alabama, Georgia, LSU, USC of the FCS.

Winning matters.

I am livid right now be as Bob and company have shown unadulterated, absolute incompetence, and managed to humiliate the school, the program and those poor kids on the national stage.

This season was a series of lessons in how to utterly fail you team, your staff, your school, fans and boosters.

You can bet we will be watching the future of this team de-commit, and sadly say goodbye to our best players on the team as they enter the portal for greener pastures and teams that will offer them a chance to win titles, and I don’t blame them.

I don’t care if the only player on the team is the water boy as long as UM someday manages to claw its way out of obscurity. I could care less if there is a single Montana recruit on the team. I care about winning, period.

Even Bob Stitt’s threw shade at UM and Big game Bob, and that’s just absolutely humiliating from a fan perspective.

While people go about handing out orange slices and telling the coaches they’ll get ‘em next year, UM, and Missoula will continue to lose money, the university will continue to lose revenue for athletics, watch the enrollment continue to decrease and fade into obscurity like ISU, NAU or UNC.
