Williams: UM has recruited 'thugs' for football team

granitegriz said:
Since you are throwing stones Savage, why don't you describe to us everything wrong you have done in the your past life? If not, STFU.
Quit deflecting.....this isnt about anybody else but the thug Griz football players. If you want to make personal attacks start another thread....after all that is what this site is for threats, denial and personal attacks.

Nope. Don't worry about facts getting in the way of your story. Go ahead and look up the number of MSU FB players arrested over the past 5 years, and what the arrests were for... And compare that to the griz. Then compare it to all other NCAA teams. We are in the top 3% for clean programs. You are near the bottom.
Where do I look that up? Could you point me in the direction of the database that has all the statistics for all team nationwide? That would be interesting. Or do we just go from impressions, news reports or anecdotal examples? Oh, and also I will need all the information on the crimes that were committed bur not prosecuted because:

I assumed homec was left off list since he would be on both sides of equation and would be canceled out.

Isn't time to look forward Alpha instead of backwards...how are PWs comments helping...get a clue.
I never said they helped I said they were the truth.

Far from helping, they are actually harmful and counterproductive at this point. I think even you can agree on this Alpha, rather than giving us your typical hard-headed contrarian act

The idiot athletes that committed these crimes or put themselves in the situation to be blamed are who caused the harm. Pat Williams had nothing to do with that Hauck and ODay did.

Spin it however you want but you will always be wrong.

Just curious, Alpha, have you ever broken the law? Wondering if you are a thug or not.

Alpha~I don't think reasonable posters on this board are arguing that no thugs have ever been recruited by UM or any top FCS program for that matter. I am sure we could even find one or two at Liberty over the years. The issue is with the half truths with PW's comments. Who from the Griz football team has been convicted of criminal mischief (vandalism) in the last several years? PWs comments also imply that the coaches knew the recruits were thugs but still recruited them. Is this totally correct? Could the Griz coaches to predict that B. Donaldson would end committing such wrongful acts? This is where PW very much misses the mark.

Predictably, as this thread has meandered along it has strayed ever further from the point. That point being that without supporting evidence Pat Williams has recklessly maligned a substantial segment of UM's student athlete population. Period... Williams didn't just air dirty laundry he waved all of it, dirty and clean, in the face of The New York Times. If quoted accurately his sorry ass should be run out of the BOR as well as any campus teaching gig he might still have.

This!

Good article from Bill Foley in Butte.

A well written article and right on the money.

Except for the "distinguished career" part! Keep in mind that most Butte folks tend to be democrats, and in some cases, thugs!

Story about petition to get PW off board.

Does anyone know where this petition is? I would like to sign it.

The petition from the QB Club is great, but don't wait to sign the petition. There is a link earlier int his thread about how to contact and send messages to the legislative committee that still has to ratify PW's appointment. If you feel strongly about making your voice heard you should join others who have sent messages to the committee as a whole and its members individually. Yesterday I sent messages to the committee, each of its members, and to the Guv asking them all to not ratify PW and to replace him as a regent for the many good reasons noted on this site.

Make your voice heard. We are Montanans, and we should not accept someone like PW trying to take over our University system or otherwise represent us nationally.

Am I mis-reading or isn't a DRUG DEALER MURDER missing form the MSU list 'o felonies? I don't like stacking up all these headlines they way you did GetGrizzly, because you should not include any former player who is years out of a program. The program has no influence or responsibility to, or for, those guys way down the road. They no longer have any association with the staff or the school (and I believe that applies to Kramer's problems as well). The coaches can only discipline or report those within the ranks. You might as well blame their parents or grade school teacher in that case. Also you do not differentiate between charges, convictions and circumstances. For example, I personally believe "taser gate" was a case of poorly trained podunk police who could not figure out how to diffuse a situation without using weaponry on college kids who had the music up to loud and attempted to exercise their constitutional right to keep police from unlawfully entering a private domicile with a warrant or probable cause. Oh wait, they were big black thug types so maybe probable cause was there. The actual charges against the UM players were greatly reduced when the issue of police misconduct arose. Kudos to the Cats for cleaning up. As of last year, we have too. Which is why WIlliam's comments were so wrong.
