Why would any talented offensive player

I disagree. The Griz have as much talent as anyone, but the coaches are unable to put them in position to succeed.

So very close. You had the second part right on the money.

I agree with critics of UM’s offensive approach, that it can become conservative to a fault. But even as a Cat fan, I can see that talented offensive players DO want to go play in Missoula. They currently have and have had good skill players. I mean, Junior Bergen left MSU for UM.

The offense’s real problem has been an inability to put together an above average offensive line.

Coupled with their inability or unwillingness to get the ball to their playmakers. Bergen’s # of touches per game this season was criminal. As was Flowers’ and Grossman’s.

Bergen: 14 carries for 58 yards; 17 receptions for 214 yards; 26 returns for 417 yards. That’s 57 touches in 13 games, an average of about 4 touches/game.

Grossman; 28 catches for 298 yards; 2 catches per game

Flowers: 31 catches for 460 yards; an average of just over 2 catches/game

Last season:
Bergen 118 carries for 521 yards; 21 receptions for 231 yards; 9 returns for 140 yards (average of 11 touches per game)
Flowers: 12 carries for 143 yards; 14 receptions for 210 yards; 16 returns for 488 yards
Grossman; 36 receptions for 463 yards

Criminal, really. And I think the results are reflective of that. Bergen and Flowers were the absolute best in space on this team, and Grossman was/is a complete mismatch from the TE position for anyone trying to guard him.

As a comparison this year:

Grossman: 14.18 ypc
Brammer: 6 ypc
Rensvold: 8 ypc
Elwell: 4 ypc
Barker: 5 ypc

One of those is not like the others.

Oh I totally agree that their utilization sucks. I'm just saying that clearly at least some talented offensive players want to play for Hauck because they're on the roster.

Which starters are not talented?

All of the O Line and the whole QB room, average at best hence the 6th place finish.
Tell that to the voters that recognized our junior left guard for 1st team all-BSC and our junior center for 3rd team.

I sure would tell them that!

The accolades this year have been laughably bad.
