Why Use Replay

I've seen time and time again today, last week, last year....that they take the time to review a play and still blow the damn call. Why can they not get it right.

Believe me, I understand that it's often the call on the field that stands as it's hard to overturn without indisputable evidence. The play's I'm talking about have the evidence.

Cal Poly just fumbled it to SDSU. It was extremely obvious the QB knee was down way before the ball came out. The replay showed this as well yet they still give it to SDSU

Earlier, EWU has a TD called on a tough catch. It was reviewed to see if he got his foot down. It was evident he did not. Yet they call the TD good. Last week at the NDSU vs EWU game, that may have been the worst called game I've witnessed. Replay after replay, review after review, would show a call should be overturned yet the booth would uphold the call on the field.

So frustrating. Why use replay if you're still gonna blow it.

Simple answer: Because it's the BSC.

It's frightening. It's like the replay officials who make the call from the booth are junior high kids flipping coins for the call. It's like tjey seriously don't know the rules or what should be called correctly when every single person watching the replay it's obvious.

And then the officials miss two OBVIOUS block in the backs on that punt return. Right. In. Front. Of. Them.

Or when a UNI receiver has his whole knee sitting out of bounds but they still give him the catch in crunch time for the griz

That one had me out my chair so quick. It was ridiculous.

And the EWU TD that wasn't. He took a swipe at the turf with his foot and whiffs. Not once does it catch turf. His butt does.

Seems like the reffing this season is particularly poor, even with the crutch of replay. Camera angles for some of the FCS stuff is going to be sub-optimal many times because the vantage points for cameras are significantly lower than with the larger stadiums and there would be fewer of them than an FBS contest.

Even with that, it's the media and fans like us who spot the problems. How about the two clowns who dropped balls prior to crossing the goal line last night? Neither was revered if memory serves. If it were me, would pull the scholarships for both, ass-clown "look-@-me moves by both of them.

Glad to see an unbiased observer felt the same way. I generally feel it goes both ways but yesterday some of the calls were criminal and that was probably the worst of them....Cal Poly was driving and already up by 7 well into SDSU territory instead they get the ball and score. Glad it didn't effect the outcome.

I cant get up to SLO next Saturday but I hope some of you folks do. It's a very cool town and I'm certain you'd find hospitable Mustang fans. Cal Poly Montana is always a whole lot of fun.

Grizz fans bitching about officiating will never cease to be hilarious to me. That's so rich.

Even when they think it is the eagles that got screwed. I know you think that the only reason the Griz beat eagles so many times was bad calls, but that was before replay and in reality the bad calls evened out. There is no excuse for the horrible play calling during the NDSU game. I hate the EWU but i was rooting for them to beat NDSU. It was almost as if someone was paid off. You should of won that game it was taken from you. Not one or two possible times but at least 3 or 4 game determining calls that were botched even with replay.

I saw a couple of other games where replay outcomes were botched. As much as I used to think the college way of doing replays made more sense than the NFL, I am beginning to rethink my position. Who exactly do they put in the replay booths?

I was on the field and that play happened 10 feet in front of me. Actually have video from my camera phone which clearly shows he was not in. I don't know what view they showed, but there was a game camera set up right next to me......

Something needs to be done re: ridiculous amount of downtime during games, what w/ timeouts, injuries, penalties, etc. What the h***? Get rid of replay; it's just another time waster. Sixty minutes of actual play, but games are 3 goddam hrs. long!

I know right? Remember that one time the refs screwed up so bad in the national championship game they gave the Grizzlies the win when clearly they should have lost?

Oh wait that was the Eagles...
