Why so Angry?

I get disappointment. I get disagreements over strategy, personnel or game planning.

What I don't get is the anger.

It's not just football, either. It's our national culture.

Maybe it's just a mental health issue. No wonder medical marijuana is so popular. I actually think it's way under prescribed.

It's just a game. There's more to life than wins and losses. Take a long walk. Kiss somebody who wants to be kissed. Be thankful that you're not fighting some dread disease.

Do you not understand that Griz Nation expects, demands and is entitled to success. Someone needs to be held accountable. Did you not see someone drop a ball? That is inexcusable. Coaches need to be fired for that. Griz Nation demands perfection. Hauck getting his teams to the national championship game 3 of 7 years, and not winning, was a good example of fans settling for less than what they deserve. He should have been fired after the second loss in the championship game. Now look at what's happened to the program. The coaches, the athletic department, the president and maybe even the board of regents need to be fired, reprimanded or held accountable. Unless you believe in and will tolerate mediocrity, and are part of the everyone gets a ribbon culture, you need to be picketing and protesting at the Board of Regents meetings in Missoula this year. We are Montana, ya know.

Absolutely right PR, except I would have waited until he pooched the 3rd one and my tongue is firmly planted not wavering about cheek to cheek.

Disappointment: I believed the hype and thought we'd be better. Changes could have and should be made.

Sadness: Season ends early and Cat/Griz has nothing on the line except to kick Gregorak in the balls.

Anger: Dude. We lost to Northern Colorado.

Happiness: Maybe watching one or two more games after Thanksgiving. And making sure Gregorak gets kicked in his balls.

Absolutely right. I am very far South and in a region famous for its courtesy, manners, and developing tolerance, but even here, anger at everything is palpable. I had a two hour layover in Denver and while waiting all TVs in the airport were on one of the 24 hour "news" stations who learned long ago that violence and controversy sells and Americans buy it. We have become more of a "got mine" country that worships money and power and militarism. That has been part of our history but coupled with the internet and social media, it is magnified and fed to more people, while at the same time, many people have gone through the school system without much understanding or required critical thinking. That's life...I can take a few insults when they are funny, but, many on Egriz are vicious and stupid. That's life, too. You might be right about pot...it's too strong for me, these days.

How is your health holding up, LA?

Hope you're well...

If people put in as much passion for their country as they do their dear college/professional sports teams, reality show contestants and/or soap opera shows....

This is hilarious. I think, on a nation-level, we "put in" plenty of passion  Maybe too much, don't know if you've watched any news...

Thanks..I am a lot better than I was 5 years ago. I'd be even better if I could avoid the bbq in the Palmetto State, or the shrimp n grits....but, it ain't easy to say, "no thank's y'awl."

"Griz Nation demands perfection"? The losses from the last 2 years are stacking up. We're merely looking for improvement, in at least "one" major phase of the game. Where is it... :egriz:

As usual, great post AWF!

I enjoy classic books and movies and often believe we can learn a lot from prior generations. People that faced famine, world wars, rampant disease and economic depression. I agree with you, It's hard to get "upset" about your cell phone "dying" or even your favorite team losing when you consider how damn lucky you are. And perhaps that is where this "anger" begins. It's where egocentrism, histrionics and entitlement commingle. In a word, it's childishness. Egriz didn't invent this behavior but we sure try and perfect it here.

As a public service, I propose to respond to this behavior as the film stars in the 30's, 40's and 50's did. During those times, when confronted with a person that was out of control with emotion, anger or bereavement, one would respond with a good slap. After all, it was the least you could do to help them. With any luck, you could knock them back into reality.

During the off season, I will be traveling this great nation of ours in search of Griz fans that need a good slapping. Those that believe it is their birthright to "make a deep playoff run" every year; those that turn into complete crybaby bed wetters when faced with the slightest adversity; those that believe their entire yearly self-worth it predicated on how well a backwater FCS football team does each fall.

What's your address Ursus 1?
