Why no replays at Wa Griz?

Not every question is a "serious" one. There are many curiosities. Maybe fans have no right to have such things answered but when they are legit, then maybe they do and doing it on a public forum is efficient and the way things are done these days. Once upon a time ago I managed a 100+ person organization and 10 minutes a week is not a large commitment for something that matters. Obviously, this may not matter to Kent and then so be it, but he has a staff who will do most of the work and he will just mainly rubber stamp it. That is what I did in such cases.

Well, the way they're done these days is on Twitter. And Kent does answer a number of serious questions (which he is able to) in that forum.

Sure they show replays of those plays. What are you talking about?

Yes, officials make mistakes, and showing the replays allows the fans to see if the refs were right or wrong. That is, or should be, part of the experience. Players are human too, and their plays are replayed.
Fan is short for fanatic, and we have enough of them at WaGriz. The replays-however important to our need-build up resentment toward the refs, and with crazy ass fans like we have, it's detrimental to the ref's existence. When there's a bad call at WaGriz, it's 25,000 booing, swearing, and threatening the ref vs 1,638 (sometimes less) in favor of the bad call. Only takes one crazy mo-fo-fan to go off. As Brint said, the NCAA has regulations in showing certain replays. Just watch the game, and replay it when you get home. Get over it.

Replays are part of the game day experience. The more, the better at games. Where are the so-called restrictions that impact Griz games? Booing was invented for bad refs.

Thought I recall there's some sort of rule about not showing "controversial" plays on replay. Not sure if that's an internal/UM rule, a conference rule, or NCAA one.

A quick google search suggests a lot of conferences and programs have rules they can only show those replays once.
It’s a stupid rule. Just makes fans want to stay at home and watch on TV instead of coming to games. I thought this many times at games that I’d be better off at home whete we can see replay (3 or 4 times) and discuss/debate with our friends. That’s a fun part of football on TV. Why treat fans differently that make an effort and travel and pay money to go to games. FBS and NFL show replays with all the camera angles, multiple times.

Not showing the play is akin to a 2 yr old covering their eyes thinking it hides them. Facts are facts, the game is real - not showing a pivotal play does not hide the fact that it is pivotal and controversial; it only pisses fans off even more. Sometimes a replay will calm fans downs, sometimes it riles them up. Denying it exists and depriving fans of it of does more harm than good.

Seems like a “rule” from a bunch of old fuddy duddy luddites stuck in the 90s - like “can’t sell beer at games,” or “players can’t get paid” or “shoulder pads must be 12 inches tall, minimum.”
