Why Does the Davis Game Start at 4:00?

Why does the UC Davis game start at 4:00? 4:00 seems like a funny time, neither a day game nor a night game, sort of a "tweener". There must be some reason for the 4:00 start, does anybody know why?

Thanks.

Californians get out of bed around noon on the weekends. Plus you have to go to the Parade and have time to tailgate so a 4 o'clock kickoff sounds about right...

Probably has something to do with the tv scheduling... & they probably know that I don't want to miss the Oregon game.

That's always been their preferred time unless ROOT overrules. We played them at 4:05 last year and it's a nice time to play: out of the heat of the day but still have plenty of time to recreate after the game is over. I'm not sure why more people don't do it actually.

The fog/smog doesn't clear till after 1 pm. And then and only then does the sun even begin to appear. You can't see clearly until about 3:30 and then dusk sets in and no one notices what time of day it really is.

You can't wake and bake in the morning and be ready to play a football game by 1, this gives them the extra 3 hours to sober up!

Just making sure you know the game starts at 5:00 Mountain. :thumb:
"Coverage will begin at 5 p.m. Mountain, 4 p.m. Pacific from Aggie Stadium in Davis, Calif. Chris Byers will handle the play-by-play duties with Grady Bennett serving as color commentator. Anna Cole will be the sideline reporter."

Well, I am not sure why they settled on 4pm specifically, but can tell you that our early fall games are night games that start at 6pm. The reason for that start time is that we can get some real hot days in September and Aggie Stadium is a big bowl, which increases the risk for heat prostration. Once the weather cools, they move the game to an earlier start time. All of our remaining home games are at 4pm.

After seeing your "hottie" thread, I could work off of that and think of some reasons why we are not starting at noon, but I will let your imagination take care of that thought.

Weather Saturday is going to be near perfect (for CA boys at least), high 70s and clear sky's. The tailgate area just north of the stadium, will be featuring some outstanding CA wines available for tasting (for a fee). I hope to see a bunch of you out for the game. The last time you were here we had a great game. And after seeing several remarks on your board regarding the "good guys" winning the game, yes, I agree, lets hope the good guys do win (they are in blue). :D
