Sometime the "Pull" of "Home" is a powerful motivator. And really, how much $$ does it really take to be happy. Depends on what MAKES you happy.

Whether named head coach or not, Hauck’s passion for Montana and the Griz is unequaled. Yes he left for many reasons but passion never left. FTC

PR,

1.Are the ‘big boosters’ calling the shots as it pertains to hiring Hauck? If so, what is the Kent relationship with said boosters like right now? Has he been emasculated and being forced into this or is he acknowledging his mistake and choosing to bring back “toughness...swagger...”

2. Haucks potential staff...who should we be paying attention to in the coming days and weeks?

3. Initial thoughts on a Hauck return, both from an X’s and O’s standpoint, as well as from a culture p.o.v? Obstacles? Advantages?

Thank you for all the info you provide.

Don't really know. I would guess that the big supporters are not really "calling the shots"; they have just weighed in at times, and must have weighed in bigger/harder since the Cat game. I doubt that they told Haslam anything he hadn't already thought about. Don't think he's emasculated. But may more fully understand where UM athletics and his bread are buttered. I can see funding for the indoor practice facility on the horizon now. Two of the biggest actual/potential UM supporters have been Bobby fans. Another good one, who supported Stitt's hiring, is now on the Bobby wagon, I believe. If boosters push for a new coach, and that occurs, then I think the boosters know that they need to step up when the AD proposes a funding plan.

Hauck's staff. Don't know, but assume he'll get some of the band back together. Timmy was interested 3 years ago. Look at the 3 guys retained. I assume Bobby will assemble most of his staff quickly, in part because he has been thinking about returning to Montana for multiple years (since he left UNLV).

I don't see any obstacles.

Assume Bobby will be a pro set/2-back guy with a good run-first game and tough players. Just like UM previously and UNLV. But, again, don't know, other than he will want the Griz to be tougher and certainly not soft.

Assume that most people who know him will love him, and some will not like him. Assume he will immediately start rubbing the Cats the wrong way.

Players (seniors and juniors) when he arrived at UM last time, either disliked him or hated him. He told returning starters that they would have to earn their positions again. That and other things didn't go over well with the older players. I believe all returning starters and players expected to start ended up earning their spots. Some of them may have mellowed a bit after they left, but some still don't like him. Hopefully, he will be a bit less of a hard ass at the outset this time.

I think Bobby will emphasize just plain toughness more than Stitt did. That is not to say that the current players didn't work hard and lift hard. Would guess that more old school power lifting may come back, but don't know Bobby's current philosophy.

Not only is this all I know; it's more than I know. Ha. Take it with some grains of salt.

I really like Bobby, by the way, both as a coach and as a person/friend. I feel bad for Stitt and the assistants not retained, and wish them well. I liked all of those guys personally, and considered most of them friends. Coaching is a tough business.

Thanks again. I need to go digging but I vividly recall watching UNLV adapt to a ‘spread to run’ type system under Hauck. He had a decent dual threat qb at one point...fascinated to find out how he would approach things a second time around

Saw someone else say that, so you are probably right. Like I said, some grains of salt. Thx. By the way, no matter what Hauck runs, I think Jensen will be a very good fit.

I think a lot of the players would be GREAT fits in likely offensive style. Just would need a couple tweaks and he could transition some to TE easily. Oline returnees might be better suited for his style to be honest. Biggest thing will be the defense will improve evenwith no major personnel changes and special teams for sure will improve. This team would likely be....dare I say...."scary good" in two years
