Who is Lee Enterprises?

Since Gwen Florio found great pleasure in trying to connect egriz to UM through Chris, I think it only right to connect the Missoulian to its parent company Lee Enterprises, and all the papers that are sister papers to the Missoulian. Here is a link to the entire list of papers owned by Lee:
http://www.lee.net/newspapers/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think many of us know that the Billings, Helena, Missoula, Butte and Hamilton papers are owned by Lee, however, their reach is much broader than Montana only. Similar to Griz nation in that regard.
As I have been reading many on egriz cancelling subscriptions, advertising, and pressuring those that advertise in the Missoulian, there are many in Griz nation that may consider the same of other Lee owned papers should they continue to support the type of "journalism" practiced by the Gwen Florio Egriz article.
Should the Billings Gazette re-print another biased article by Florio, I will be cancelling my 20 + year subscription and ask others to consider the same action.
GoGriz!

I am shocked. People actually subscribe to papers anymore? I know they do, but I know so few that do, because of the internet, and websites.

Newspapers, in general, have been hemorrhaging readership for years because of the internet. Even more reason that a forum as large as egriz could effectively get Lee Enterprises attention.

Warren Buffet owns 3.5% and subscriptions are up because Lee seems to focus more on the smaller cities and markets, where more people actually read newspapers and rely less on electronic media...

Lee is in reorganization mode after filing for bankruptcy at the end of last year. They have more than
$1 billion (that's with a B) in debt resulting mostly from buying the Pulitzer papers, including the St Louis Post-Dispatch (which my daughter fortunately no longer works for)....on a related matter, last week I cut my subscription to the Denver Post back from daily to weekends. It has shrunk both in page size and content plus it exists - barely - as an ill-disguised mouthpiece for all things liberal. Given time I expect it will be peeled back to the dimensions of The Onion...

Sadly none of the Mt. papers are as strong as they were in the 80's and 90's. Both the Trib & Gazette were once very competent state-wide papers. The industry is obviously in decline. Although Lee might be a step-up from being owned by the "Andaconda Company".
