Whitefish Wrestling Bus Crash Remembered

Really good article on the crash. Not Grizzly related, but I remember it like yesterday. I was on campus then, and even though I didn't know any of the kids involved, I did know some Whitefish kids. Hard to comprehend. Hard to believe it was 30 years ago.

I thought it was one of the best pieces of journalism I've seen in a long time. The Flathead Beacon, owned by Connie Chung and Maury Povich, does some really solid stuff.

I was busted up in a logging accident at the time so I remember this....very sad deal, life is not always a box of chocolates, as much as we would like it to be. Well done article and I shed a tear 30 years later.

Thanks for that bit of intel, too bad their big media contributions were suspect, but kudos for their staff for getting this one right.

Good read. On that day, the Flathead High Freshman Basketball team was playing in Browning. On our game film, you could see the Whitefish Wrestling team walk into the gym and sit on the bleachers. Very sad day for Whitefish and the entire Flathead Valley.

My Dad was one of the first First Responders on the scene. It haunted him for years. Unbelievable tragedy. I think about it every time I drive that stretch of road. Seeing the crosses is a grim reminder. My brother was wrestling for C-Falls then and I remember them wearing the black patches on their singlets.

Beautifully written story of a horrible event. 30 years on and winter driving remains the same. We all know the risks and when you live in the west sometimes it can't be avoided. Drive the conditions, slow down and if you don't have to drive don't.
Make sure you make it out to next seasons games at WGS.
