Where does our class rank?

Where is Goldilocks when we need her!!! Hilarious and so damn true. Bitch, bitch, bitch. Winning would stop that though! I think that will happen with the last two recruiting classes. The question is - how many fans go postal and end up in Warm Springs because they have no patience?

Except it doesn't, Copper. We won a shit ton of games under Hauck and people still bitched like they were getting paid for it.

Well stated Everett and probably one of the reasons BH looked elsewhere. Living in a fishbowl in Missoula would be tough on a family.

Who are we kidding. If you guys don't go at least 8-3 people will be bitching. The reports from spring camp will show promise and everyone will have huge expectations. If you go 6-5 there ain't gonna be any threads started on egriz saying "I'm okay we went 6-5". That's not smack. We all know as much as its easy for you to say on Feb 4th you'd be okay with it, Sept 4 is a different story. That goes for any fan base. Other than maybe unc.

People can bitch all day long. If the AD has his back and sees progress it does not matter. People Bitched when the Griz got to the NC and did not win. Haters gonna hate. I hate losing, but I feel a hell of a lot better about the program than a few years ago, I am not kidding anyone Now if I was a Cat fan - talk about kidding yourself. If Jeffie turns the program around over yonder, he will be gone with the wind.

I'd say, get back to us in 2019 and we'll know for sure.

Exactly, this is why some others freaking out (either way to be honest) about recruiting classes being so good or so-so at the very moment is pretty silly.

We see this all the time:

- A few recruits that "look amazing on the highlight reels" never ever pan out
- A few recruits that were under the radar guys without much hype turn into studs
- A few PWO's or just plain walk-ons become all conference guys
- A few guys destined to change the way this team will be never play a single meaningful down as a Griz

Give it a few years. I like this class, heavy on tough Montana kids with some immediate attention to a few areas that need it the most with the exception of CB, which I assume the Griz will go hard after in the summer with JuCo's and/or drop downs - like they did this last season too.

As you know Brint, no contract extension for Stitt yet. I get being patient but does Stitt get a new contract this season if he goes 6-5 with no playoff appearance?

Hmm... I guess it all depends. If it's like this last year where the team continually gets worse as the season goes on with a disappointing end then that could be it for him. If the team makes a strong push and wins the last 4 or more games in a row and shows great future potential then I think an extension would be in the works.

Hopefully 2017 goes better than 2016 and this type of discussion/decision doesn't have to be made.

The 2017 schedule is definitely back loaded. I can see us getting off to a 5-1 start with Valpo, Savannah, ISU, and PSU being for sure wins. EWU looks vulnerable this year, so I expect to win that at home.
The second half involves UND, WSU, MSU, UNC and NAU. We were 1-3 against those teams and didn't play UND or might've been 1-4. Fortunately 3 of 5 are home games, but there's a real chance that we go 2-3 or even 1-4 to close out the year. A finish like that and we're looking for a new coach for 2018.

I'd disagree if we get 7-4 and playoff bid. Even if bad end to the year. It shows improvement and Haslam will give Stitt another year at least. Haslam brought Stitt in so he's going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I agree. 7-4 AND a playoff bid would save his job. However 7-4 doesn't guarantee a bid. We could easily have head-to-head losses against three league foes and some conference opponent we didn't play could finish 8-3/6-2 or better. That puts us in the 5 spot among BSC teams being looked at.

Despite our downtrend over the past 7-8 years football is still the No. 1 attraction for students and it generates huge revenue from our big fanbase. It's encouraging that we haven't seen attendance begin to tail off, but I don't think Haslam can afford to be patient. At 7-4, Stitt would be 21-14 over three years with just one playoff appearance.

Probably not good for Stitt if he loses to State College again.

Absolutely CANNOT lose to the cats again, in back-to-back years. Being owned by them for 1 year is bad enough.

I'm going with an 8-3 guess.

EWU might be reloading on coaches but not on talent. Looks like the system Baldwin left behind will still be implemented with the future coaches. Maybe a few tweeks here and there. They'll be tough. And don't forget, they lost their entire O line starters going into the 2016 season and faired pretty well.

NAU will be tough as well returning Cookus and Butler and 12 transfers on defense.... Kinda looks like a 2015 PSUroster all over again. Jerome has something going on down there. Who knows tho, Cookus could get a transfer offer that he can't refuse. There was an article not long ago about BYU looking at him. Not sure if that'll ever work out.

Washington.... I don't need to explain that one.

They do lose very productive receivers (Kupp being the biggest of course) but they did seem to reload on this year's class, even if many of them won't play for a couple years. EWU certainly made a great hire to keep Baldwin's culture around, and a great team culture will win you games. But I expect Best will go through some growing pains as a new coach, though he certainly will have the talent to mitigate those growing pains.

Hero Sports has you guys at 13th overall, 2nd in the Big Sky...

Skip down past this article and read the about the 100 FCS recruits to flip on commitments. Reading this Board you would have thought 99 of them flipped on Stitt and Co.

Yeah a little surprised Hero has us in front of MSU but I suppose it's close. I bet the transfers we got was the tipping point.

Well MT had 5 of the top 250 FCS recruits and MSU had 4. All of MT were on DEF except Peyton Stoner
