What we desperately need....

....is the scouting report from Brint....some of us are going through withdrawls!!!!!!!!

Let me help. This week's opponent is No Dakota State.

Did you ever see the movie Star Wars, or even Space Balls? ND State are the guys with the raspy voice wearing the oversized Black Hat. AKA, "The Evil Empire".

Though somehow they snort cauliflower out of their nostrils. Cauliflower is rather tasty and good for you. So that part doesn't really fit with the "Evil" label. Yet otherwise the label fits perfectly. They have had a great run over the past few years. They buy last year's uniforms from the Green Bay Packers. They also recruit their offensive linemen from the Green Bay Packers. That has been a really good pipeline for them.

Their school is in Fargo. That's the flat farm country where the Dakota's are devoid of any interesting features. They play in an oversized barn. It's a multipurpose facility. Local farmers store their tractors in it over the winter. The school doesn't own the stadium as the state of North Dakota reportedly gives all of its money to a hockey program at the other school.

As to their team, you should expect they will run the ball. They can pass on occasion. However, they are not going to. Their defense will attempt to force the Grizzlies to throw the ball. Unbeknownst to them, we don't run it anyway except up the A gap on first, second, and third downs. So look for the Grizzlies to start to get their offense on track when Montana submits to their run defense pressure.

Being that this game is in the "Death Star", the Evil Empire is the favorite. However, it should be a good game if our Grizzlies don't turn the ball over. Hope this helps. I am not betting the farm, yet I like our chances. Go Griz!

I'm not sure what Brint can add to that.

Really for NDSU? It's pretty simple they are a run first team, who dominate in the trenches. Some of their top RB's are out, but they have plenty more. Defense is top notch as usual. Although this year they have had more inconsistencies on both offense and defense compared to years past. The QB Miller is not elite in running or passing but doesn't need to be for them to win. That means that they are a little more beatable than normal but are more than capable of winning it all. I believe they have only lost one time at home in the playoffs all time. We cannot have turnovers, and must be competitive at the line of scrimmage on both sides to win. Must slow down the run game or it will get ugly like the MSU game.

Piece of cake, huh? NOT! My question is, how can we expect to have a running game against a great defense like NDSU, when we could not run against average Big Sky defenses?
