What Oregon has

I'm really enjoying the Rose Bowl as these are probably my two favorite FBS teams. This game looks like two similar teams to the Griz and Sam Houston, power vs speed. I really don't see this being a close game without the blazing speed of Oregon. That being said, I wonder if it's realistic to think the Griz could ever get the kind of team speed the Bearkats had?

I have been to Autzen Stadium twice when the Griz played the Ducks. I have never been confronted with ruder, nastier fans then Oregon fans, not even in Bozo. I absolutely hate the Ducks and am rooting for the Badgers.

This game ended the same way as the WSU Rose Bowl game when Ryan Leaf was the qb. It's unsatisfying that the Wisconsin (and WSU) didn't get their final shot at the end zone.

???

- They should not have burned either of their first 2 time-outs of the second half.
- The QB should not have tried to spike the ball with 2 seconds left.
- They had plenty of chances to score again, including getting a TD instead of that FG.

It was a great game.

I was there when the wheel dealer was the QB. I do not remember too much interaction with the Oregon fans but I would have remembered if I felt they were inordinately rude. There is always a jerk in every crowd. :|

Still unsatisfying (and I was rooting for Oregon).

The officials tried to give Wazzu a chance at the end of the '98 Rose Bowl when they blew a blatant offensive pass interference call on the Cougs last drive. I remember being 18 & losing my shit in my parents living room thinking Michigan was going to get screwed out of a national title.

Wisconsin should have tried to run a play instead of trying to spike the ball.

Unfortunately, what Oregon had was an opponent with no pass rush.

I am so tired of hearing about Sams Speed... Didn't our QB run past the LB's and DB's of Sam???

Ending of 1998 Rose Bowl:

"On the next play, Washington State completed a hook-and-ladder first down inbounds, temporarily stopping the clock with two seconds remaining. When the first down markers were reset the clock was started back up. WSU immediately hiked and then spiked the football. The officials ruled that time had expired."

It is not possible to spike the ball with 2 seconds left because the clock starts when the ref spots the ball. It was foolish for either to have attempted it.

Poor execution.

I have heard a few times during broadcasts (college and pro) that no more than a second should be ran off in most spike situations. I am thinking, it should be closer to 2 seconds though. Hard to imagine a snap and spike only taking 1 second. Maybe football should have 10th of seconds on it's clock too. :thumb:

(this is like Mad Libs, right?)
What Oregon has....... a weasely, rich as Scrooge McDuck uncle Phil who's turned Oregon football into an SEC-like outlet in the northwest. That and a lot of speed to boot. The Ducks are fun to watch, though.

I think LSU proved how much Oregon matches up to the top SEC teams in the first game of the season.

Oregon outgained LSU in that game. Yes, they were beaten but turnovers hurt them...it was not a blowout. Also, the Ducks lost to a Cam Newton led Auburn team last year by a whole 3 points. Cam made plenty of NFL teams look bad this year if you didn't notice.

It takes only a second to snap the ball and spike it. Wisconsin's mistake was not snapping the ball quickly enough. After the ref placing the ball started to move away from the ball, the other ref didn't start to signal starting the clock for a second or so. The Wisc players should have been set better. In any event, the ball should have been snapped sooner.

And if it weren't for turnovers, we would be in the Chipper. It is what it is. LSU is unbeaten. Oregon, not so much. I'm not saying they're not great, just 0-2 against the SEC in recent important games.

Agree that they were not the better team in either game. But they were not outclassed or blown out by the "mighty SEC."
