I think "Phil P" Could be the late Phil Ryan........Asst coach on the team, I believe.

Possibly, but its hard to say. The last name looks longer than Ryan, but could be the way it is signed. If you look in the 4th picture down, you can see it on the right lower side of the helmet. It is the one with the very pronounced loops on the "P" of Phil and the 1st letter of his last name.

Yeah I saw that.......I was thinking the second loop could be the R. Anyhow, #27 is James Howell. He was a linebacker.

Right on. Thanks again.

Toone and Riley were the two D linemen who sacked Pennington in the end zone for the safety in '95. I was there to see it. What great memories to see some of those names again. I've never seen 30,000 fans all dressed in green in one stadium as quiet as the Marshall bunch when that game ended. Kinda makes me sad, considering the current state of affairs. Here's hoping the future holds more such memories.

I don't think there's a single person on eGriz who doesn't think you're one of the luckiest people in the world to have that helmet. What a treasure!

If there was a market for FCS collectibles I think this would rank right up there as being one of the more valuable pieces of memorabilia out there. Might be the most rare piece of Montana memorabilia out there..

Appreciate all of the positive comments and the help identifying some of the signatures. This helmet has a lot of sentimental value for sure. And yes, I thanked my grandfather for years for this gift. :D
