W. Ky. is moving to the Sun Belt Conference. Are they a player in this years 1AA playoff? I doubt anyone wants in the Sun Belt but this move may be a stepping stone for them to the MAC or CUSA.

Has W. Ky been competitive in D1AA?
 
Western Kentucky won the National Championship in 2002. They play in the difficult Gateway Conference but I think this move was on the back of their basketball program who has seen success. I believe they will do ok in the Sun Belt and may quickly be the best team in the conference.
 
And being the best football team in the Sun Belt actually means something?? I mean, even Idaho wanted out of the Sun Belt. To me, staying I-AA would definitely be preferable to being in the Sun Belt.
 
Listening to ESPN the other day they were going over the different scenarios that would have to happen if the top teams want to make it into the 1-A championship game...who would have to lose etc...
We just have to win.
Better system.
 
Maybe they think the Sun Belt is their stepping stone. Get their scholarships up to 85 and then they do bolt to another conference. :beer2:

I expect to see WKU in the Sun Belt for a long time.
