Four Montana State University athletes were cited Monday for various misdemeanors after a weekend assault that sent Bobcat basketball player Xavier Blount to the hospital and possibly ended his season.

"Football linebacker Roger Trammell, 21, was cited for misdemeanor assault; track sprinter Christopher Wilson, 20, for disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a driver’s license; football defensive tackle Zach Minter, 21, for unlawful use of a driver’s license; and basketball forward Blount, 20, for disorderly conduct and minor in possession of alcohol, Bozeman Assistant Police Chief Rich McLane said Monday."

It seems the MSU School of Architecture might specialize in the design of glass houses.

And the UM School of Theater and Dance can sure dance around the issue.

And from 2007...

"Former Montana State wide receiver Rick Gatewood has been arrested on drug charges and is accused of using his athletic scholarship money to traffic cocaine from California in the Bozeman area.

Gatewood, 23, and his brother, Randy, 21, were arrested this week on federal charges alleging they sold and conspired to sell cocaine from June 2005 to May 2007. They appeared Wednesday in federal court in Missoula, but have not yet been charged.

The FBI, Gallatin County sheriff's office and other involved authorities declined to comment on the case.

Gatewood, a Richmond, Calif., native, was an all-Big Sky Conference wide receiver in 2004 and 2005. He signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent last summer, but didn't make the team, and was expected to try out with Major League Baseball's Philadelphia Phillies this month.

Gatewood is the sixth former MSU athlete busted for crimes involving drugs or murder in the past year."

Drug dealing, drug running, murder, assualt in Missoula? Nooooo in Bozeman home of the MSU Spitting Bobcats. This all kind of makes the dui's with the Griz look like miniscule. Truly the center of serious crime for an NCAA school in Montana is in Gallatin County.

Really, this is your argument for what is going on in Missoula, well why don't you look at what MSU did about the problem.

MSU fired the head FB coach and brought in a coach who was given the job of cleaning up the program and changing the culture. He has done that and BTW lifted the program up to a higher level of competitiveness, Coach Ash is about to become the winningest coach in MSU history, this years senior class will be the winningest class in MSU history, MSU has restored their APR rating and NCAA standing, off field problems are minimal in comparison. It takes not only a change in the administration and coaches but a fundamental change in the fan base too.

The point is that MSU had off field problems and did something about it and are now a model program, UM has off field problems but it remains to be seen what the results will be, the sooner all griz fans get behind the changing of the culture, the more likely you will be successful in that change.

The back and forth banter in this thread is truly pathetic. This is the type of argument you hear on a middle school playground. Surely you are all better than this.

Even the HC son is running afoul of the law in Bozo. But let's skip all this and get to my main point. MSU is not nor has not been completely free of off field issues. For the cat fans to come on and smack talk the Griz for them is like the pot calling the kettle black. I personally think MSU's history and severity of issue is far worse than the Griz. Minter should have been dismissed from the team for his involvement.
Oh an for those posters...I knew full well the cats recognized the efforts of the 1984 NC Team for funding the synthetic turf. It's just that 1984 is so long ago.

Are you really that dense, everybody know that you will NEVER prevent all off field issues, but you can reduce the number and most likely the severity of the incidents, you can also greatly raise your image by how those issues are handled by the coaches and administration.

A lot og fizz fans are starting to "get it"
evidently you are not one

2506, which UM incidents do you think should have been handled differently, and why? No need to discuss the taser incident (which ended in a nolo plea to disorderly conduct). What else?

Some of these individuals must not have a life. They use this board to say things anonymously that they would never say in person. It gets very old. Ironically guys like PR also try to convince the rest of us that he has all of the answers about football, in the middle of his grade school rants. Credibility? Uh, I do not think so.

BP, so what I have said that you don't agree with or think is wrong? Just curious. I see that you signed up less than 2 weeks ago.

the tazer incident is still a huge black eye on your program because of the way it was handled, until you admit that, there is no use even talking to dipwads like you!

The final legal outcome is irrelevant to the damage done to your programs image

Just as I thought, you can't point to a single other incident that was not handled properly. I also point out that you don't actually no how it was handled. You only know the 1/4 suspension part.

The outcomes of incidents are often very important, especially if people are arrested and never charged, are over-charged (and the charges are reduced), or the allegations turn out not to be accurate. A case in point is the Cat charged in Bigfork last summer.

No, there ore obviously other mishandled incidents, but I said it wasn't worth talking about until you realized that the tazer incident was mishandled too.

What I know about the tazer incident is that your VP took players a lawyer and in doing so caught the attention of the NCAA which snowballed into a full blown investigation. :o

But you can keep telling yourself that it was well handled the best it could be :thumb:

Nope, you can't discuss other mishandled incidents, because you can't come up with any. I've called your bluff many times, and this is yet another example.

I don't believe I have commented on how the disorderly-conduct incident was handled,at least in recent history. In fact, I have consistently said that critics may have a valid complaint there.

Actually, the players got their own attorney. The VP didn't get the attorney for them. There has never been any evidence that the VP lined up the attorney for the players.

You can tell all the lies you want, but I will probably continue to point out your lies when I see them.

ha Ha, Maybe you should ask Kemp (who has sat out 8 games this year because of it) :thumb:

This is why everybody thinks you are a clown, because even when you are obviously wrong, you still try to spin it.

As far as other incidents ther is always the frat boy beatdown/BH Kamin issue that was handled so well and the JJ is a good guy stupidity by RF that worked out so well for him.
