Welcome back Jimmy Wilson

Just looking at things from a football and team perspective, I wouldn't be so quick to annoint Jimmy as the opening day starter opposite of TJ. There are a couple other solid corners (snr Dodson and jnr Lisowski) who have been here all along with the team and are excellent football players. They have been doing more than "lifting weights for three years"; they're in football shape and in a football mindset and ready to go. If I were the head coach or D cordinator, I'd pencil those guys in as starters 1 and 1A and just see how it goes with Jimmy. Make him earn his way via special teams into a bigger and bigger role as they season goes on, and only if he deserves it. In simply football terms, I look at Jimmy returning as giving the team depth and options and anything beyond that needs to be shown and earned. Besides, if this year's secondary operates anything like it has in the past, there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone. I think we started five different corners last year at different points and they often rotate in the middle of pro-longed series against.

I have no problem with you defending him, but facts are that he, along with his group of his friends, beat the living crap out of my friend for nothing more that talking to a girl. I'm not the type of person to spread rumors and usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but Jimmy maliciously attacked him. I'm not trying to start some conspiracy theory against Jimmy. That's what happened and thats the type of things that hurt his reputation while he was down here. Being a common patroner downtown a couple years ago, I witnessed Jimmy's attitude frequently. All I can say is that I hope he has changed. If he truthfully has, I'm happy that he has been given a second chance.

BS to your version of what happened--because that's not what happened. After the initial minor skirmish, the white guys got reinforcements, came back and surrounded a black football player (not Wilson). This is where the fight started, and when your buddy went down. Both sides were at fault, and Wilson was not the main guy in the fight. I have no problem with your defending your friend, but why can't you be honest about what occurred--or do you not even know what occurred.

Everything I said was true and Wilson was involved in the attack. Haven't been on here for a few days to defend myself, but I'm not a liar and would not fabricate the truth to tarnish someone's reputation. I didn't know Jimmy as closely as you do PR, so I haven't witnessed his good side like you have. For all I know he might be a really great guy beyond the behavior he's demonstrated on Front Street. All I hope is that Jimmy has changed the ugly part of his attitude and that he has positive influences and mentors when he gets here. Best of luck to him. Hopeful that he obtains all of his goals.

If this was all that you'd said, and how you said it, you probably wouldn't have heard anything from me. As others have said, this aspect of the topic has long since run it's course, and it's time for everyone to move on. However, if I notice someone dissing Wilson in a manner I consider to be unfair, I will likely speak up. The same goes from someone dissing McGillis. Go take a look at the Basketball section, and see which poster defended McGillis more than anyone else during the basketball season. Thanks for your last post.

not sure why djollie is getting flamed on this one. Those are all legitimate concerns. Missoulians have not forgotten what a scary, aggressive guy Jimmy was. I would think though that the coaches would strongly advise Jimmy to NOT go downtown and that his roster spot is riding on him following that rule. I personally think this is a horrible move by UM. I would be all for Jimmy playing football again, just not at UM. I just feel like to many bridges have been burned in Missoula.

A few things to clear up with PlayerRep…

How dare you completely write off everyone’s account of that night. Everything you have heard is 2nd, 3rd, 4th person. YOUR VERSION IS BS. White guys surrounded a black guy, really? I had shoe prints on my face and upper body, my head was swollen and bleeding, I didn't "come to" until I was halfway up the Rattlesnake. How's that for knowing what occurred? But wait, both sides were at fault right? Good thing I had all those reinforcements when we surrounded that black football player. Here is my problem: you constantly act like you’re a friend of mine and you come on here under a screename and make libelous comments towards me that are complete "BS." If you want to talk about this give me a call. People make mistakes, but something needs to be said for the athletes who never have a brush with the law, get a degree, and move to be positive representatives of University of Montana. I wish the best of luck to Jimmy and hope he represents U of M well. The bottom line is I'm not trying to re-open this subject I am just trying to clear my name because there continues to be false reports.

Griz fans, thank you for two great years. I loved the opportunity I got to represent the great state of Montana.

Kind Regards,

Jack McGillis

Since Baller seems to want to keep bringing up the Stocks incident, I will say that Jimmy Wilson neither punched nor kicked McGillis that night. That is a fact. The people who saw the fight start and broke it up know that Wilson stayed away from the action. The people who investigated, or at least the ones I talked to, said the same thing. Baller was there, but he was too drunk to see what happened or help his friend, is what I heard. Baller, I don't think McGillis likes this incident being brought up over and over, but if you continue to do so, then I am happy to respond.

Baller, let's bet $1,000 on what I just said about Wilson's non-involvement in this incident. Some who knows and likes McGillis, was the first one to help break this up. I'd be happy to have him confirm this to some of the respected posters on the board.

Baller obviously has a agenda and doesn't like Wilson. He's already had dozens of posts attacking Wilson in the past several days, as well as previously. A number of posters have recognized his agenda and bias. Nothing he says on this subject can be believed.

Baller, if you persist in this nonesense, I'm going to talk to Chris and the mods about having you banned from the board.

By NO means was I "too drunk to see what happened or help his(my) friend" this is complete B.S. on your part. That is simply a way for you to back up your illegitimate account of that night. Its an attempt to add validity to your second hand "facts".Its a fabrication plain and simple, its typical PlayerRep BS. Wilson was indeed involved. Period. If you feel the need to taddle because you cant accept me speaking the truth, thats fine by me, go for it. I stand 100% behind my account of what happened that night. You are merely attempting to distract everyone from Jimmy's current legal issues by trying to re-hash this past incident with me. Your act has grown tired and you have no credibility on this board.

As much as I hate this decision, the decision has been made. Jimmy Wilson is once again a member of the Missoula community. How can he become a positive one? I feel he needs to go above and beyond what the typical college athlete does in terms of community service. The University needs to publicize these acts and Jimmy cannot slip up. Put him in charge of the Christmas toy drive, get him talking to kids in local schools about his story. He HAS to be a leader on this team and in the community. If he simply comes back and checks in, gets his degree and checks out, I will still think this is a failed experiment. This guy needs to atone for his past in Missoula and PROVE that he has changed. If Jimmy can become a positive part of Missoula society then all of the guys on Jimmy's jock right now because he's a great CB can stop crusading on his behalf because he will have EARNED his respect from the majority on the Missoula community, not just the jock sniffers of EGriz.

is any of this too much to ask? does this sound agenda driven? does this sound like I have an axe to grind?

I'm not totally against this but I'm wondering if all the hoopla surrounding this will be a distraction to the team and worth it?

That being said, he will be under an electron microscope so he has to be extra squeaky clean. If the kid runs a stop sign it will be headline news.

Good luck Jimmy, you will need it.

Hammer you are exactly right on this post....what has changed your mind?
