Welcome back Jimmy Wilson

I hope he makes the most of the chance that he is given. While he isn't an angel, I was always hoping for that outcome in his murder trial.

I also wonder what the posts on this board would have been like if BH was still the head coach here and this happened??

This is a truly great story - people always love a story of redemption. That being said, I hope that Jimmy will be closely monitored and mentored by the coaching staff at U of M. It's true that you don't often get second chances, and if Jimmy can finish the season without any criminal problems, it will be a success. If Jimmy finishes the season without criminal problems AND is drafted in the NFL, it will be an unparalleled success that will bring U of M more positive media than ever before.

You've got to think there was an incredibly heavy vetting of this action, I mean the first in-conference road game (and the rest of them) there's going to be mass taunting that makes the Mike Chavez "have a drink" chants look like childs play.

Happy for 2nd chances aside I also like the depth/talent he adds to the secondary and special teams.

Naw, just the usual "Brother, Sister" chants to all the couples. :D

Really?

More than AJ being nominated for an ESPY?

Make no mistake, folks. This is *bad* press.

That depends upon your point of view and I discovered yours to be far too negative months ago...

Some good highlights of Jimmy, that was 4 years ago almost, wonder how he'll adapt to being back now:

If Wilson gets a parking ticket it will make national news. THIS story is going to make national news... Jimmy isn't the only tough guy in town anymore. How is Jimmy going to react to being taunted/cornered downtown by those dudes? UM is about to get A LOT more free press...

This is a young kid who has been to hell and back. He has a rare chance with the NCAA allowing him to play, and U of M bringing him back. Jimmy Wilson is smart enough to know he Won The Lottery.

His behavior has to be spotless or he's out. The coaches and the University will accept no less. So the prospect of a bar fight before or during the season is about nil (no matter how many "tough guys" are downtown). Sure he will get taunts on and off the field, but he will control himself if he wants this opportunity. It certainly sounds like he does want it. I wish him well. :thumb:

I saw this coming and mentioned it some time back. :D Jimmy will be a monster on the field, wanna bet he was hitting the weights hard during the two year lockup. He will be a model student and citizen, just watch.

The kid is a flat-out stud. No longer will we have a "soft" corner against the run. He single-handidly beat EWU in Cheney in 2006.

Kudus to UM and its administration, for supporting Wilson and welcoming him back. This shows some courage on their part, because it would have been easy to duck this situation. The specific support of Dennison and O'Day in the press release was interesting.

Even if Wilson is a bit rusty, he will be a force. He's the best corner I've seen play for the Griz. He can play both corner positions. He's good in coverage, a good tackler and physical. Wilson and TJ will be the best starting corner tandem in I-AA, and would probably be starting corners for many I-A teams. Perhaps Wilson's return and strong play will help TJ continue to improve, as he is obviously terrific and has great potential to continue to improve. Two strong cover and physical corners should help the blitz packages too.

Wilson lifted hard while in jail, and was very strong. Given the length of the ncaa application process, my guess is that he's in terrific shape. There is nothing he wanted to do more than get his last year of college football. Now he has his chance, and will able to do it at his school, with the support of friends, the administration and athletic department, some remaining teammates and at least a goodly number in Griz nation and Missoula.

Yes, welcome back, JW.

I guess this throws a wrench in some of the OC's plans to just go away from TJ next season, huh?

Sent to me by Grizatheart, once again, welcome back Jimmy.

My Bad,

that is actually Van Cooper taking his head off. But it was the same game, that Jimmy hit the will to win out of the Bobcats.

Lol that was great hit to watch on tv bam! Isnt that the prik that played for MSU named Jefferson or something? What an ass he was in that game I was glad he got the crap knocked outa him.

Jimmy has gone through the wringer and now he deserves to get his life back. If he screws up then its all on him.

Good luck Jimmy and welcome back.

Huge gamble. Very high risk for the University should something go wrong, but also the potential for a reward for the university and Mr. Wilson should things go as hoped. I hope for the latter. I certainly hope he has thick skin. He will receive a lot of grief on the road, but also some at home as well. If he has not matured, it could be bad. He is going to have to be able to turn the other cheek and ignore the negatives.

On the road? The fans are gonna be sparse and on the other side of a track, I'd say he doesn't have much to worry about
