Are Griz Offense players Making Stitt look like a genius?
Postby horribilisfan8184 » Sat Oct 15, 2016 6:30 pm
Stats and scores of last two games don't lie
Oops, not those two previous games, the two games before that. Those didn't lie, right?

This is an example of egriz hyperbole that constantly founders on reality. Stitt bounces around here in the "genius" categories, going on two seasons. NAU and EWU demonstrate the awful truth: he's not. He is exactly what I said he was last year, a DII coach who has never coached or recruited at the DI level, and there was nothing in his DII record that showed particular inspiration, just a good, journeyman coach, and that could not offer any prospect of a smooth transition to DI.

There was a cocoon of false hopes; even recently, when I noted that Stitt hadn't ever even been recruited for a position outside of DII, Sample weighed in to try and preserve the narrative, that he had in fact been recruited. I had to correct the journalist by reference to an interview that, in Stitt's own words, UM was the first time anybody had ever recruited him. It's amazing to me how the people around Stitt try to preserve a hype that was never true in the first place.

As I have mentioned, its not being critical of Stitt, it is unfair to create expectations that are unrealistic because the first victim of the mythology if things go south is going to be ... Bob Stitt.

In the past two games, Griz have accumulated 1081 yards, to the opponents' combined 860 yards. The players seem to be able to push the field, the coach doesn't seem to have a strategy to convert those very successful efforts into points.

In the two recent games, Our Offense put up 1,081 yards against our opponents' combined offense of 860 yards. But, we scored 50 points, they scored 80.

Our Defense kept our opponents' combined yardage of 860 yards well below their typical game yardages of 920 yards. But, our Defense kept their combined scores to 80 which is exactly their average scores against all of their opponents this season. Like of the Offense, the kids seem to be doing the job on the field, but we can't keep the other guys out of the end zone.

Of course, looked at another way, NAU and EWU were able to score the same number of points against our Defense with 860 yards of play that usually takes them 920 yards to achieve. We made it easy for them.

The average scores of EWU and NAU opponents this season is 57 points per game. We scored 50. We are not the best that those two teams have faced. We are not even average. We are below average. It's not for lack of talent on the field.

Game over. So on to ISU. So now 5-3. I've been hearing griz will still get a shot at playoffs, but how bad would seed be? Do griz get a home game?

A team like this year's Griz should probably NOT be in the playoffs. They either cannot compete with the top levels of FCS or are just having "off" week ends. Can you imagine what James Madison or Jacksonville or Sam Houston or NDSU would do to UM? I think the griz fans should settle with stomping MSU which is looking to be more challenging that it should.
Fortunetly, I am GrizNation, and have faith in this Young team. A break out game is coming and will be during the playoffs[emoji119]

Don't deserve one....already 3 losses in conference makes a team mediocre
Cal Poly, NAU and EWU losses I believe were understandable. This Griz team is young and not experienced as the teams mentioned, however, the games have taught them one thing: catch the F***ing ball... [emoji6] kidding, they now have experience with top level teams and playing in Sh**ty environments. I feel we are going to be ok with a 3 loses.
