Weber State Regular Season Predictions

Our final Big Sky preview as we get set for Fall camp next week and we close the show with Weber. A program that has completely spun out of control under Mickey Mentals leadership. Let’s dive in!

August 30 @ James Madison - L. The Dukes have had a very seamless transition to FBS and have regularly been towards the top of the Sun Belt. Dukes win big at home.

September 6 @ Arizona - L. Back to back FBS games to open the season. Putting yourself behind the 8 ball early with a schedule like that.

September 13 @ McNeese - L. The Cowboys have a new coaching staff and I’m not completely sure what they have coming back, but if Weber couldn’t beat Lamar on the road last year, then his are they gonna beat McNeese? Close game but the Cowboys win at home.

September 20 vs. Butler - W. Nonschollie Butler will also have a new coaching staff. Weber gets their first win of the year.

September 27 @ UC Davis - L. 4 out of 5 on the road to start the season. That’s vicious. Davis wins comfortably at home.

October 4 BYE

October 11 vs. Sacramento State - L. Weber’s defense is gonna get carved up in this game.

October 18 @ Portland State - W. Gotta win this one to save face a little. Could be close but Weber wins on the road.

October 25 vs. Eastern Washington - W. Feels like a 50-50 game so I lean Weber at home.

November 1 vs. Montana - L. They embarrassed us at home last year, so we’re gonna return the favor this year. Griz roll in Ogden.

November 8 @ Montana State - L. This one’s not gonna be fun.

November 15 @ Idaho State - L. They couldn’t win this game at home last year so how are they gonna win in Poky this year? Plus ISU stole some Weber coaches and players to add insult to injury. Bengals win at home.

November 22 vs. Northern Arizona - L. Jacks could be playing for a lot in this game. Can’t afford to drop this one on the eve of Selection Sunday!

I got Weber going 3-9 and Mental gets fired. What a sad fall from grace after years of Jay Hill building this program into something that used to be borderline great. That’s my prediction. Thoughts???

Thanks for sticking it out with me over the last 3 months previewing everyone’s schedules. Football season is right around the corner.

Great prediction and write up. I can actually see them only beating Butler. 1-11 is not out of the question.

Not at all out of the question what you have here and it's probably more reasonable than how I see them going.
Why do FCS teams want to schedule to FBS games in a year? Boosting revenue is the only thing I can imagine, but you can't be banking big coin on James Madison.
I have them winning at McNeese, McDowell helped them last year and then I heard he got into something with the staff but they said it was an injury. The Southland, outside of UIW, just isn't what it was before the UAC or WAC (whatever they were) departures. McNeese went 2-1 in their last three, but that was wins over Texas A&M-Commerce and Northwestern State with a home loss to Lamar. Northern Colorado or Portland State could have won those three.
They can't help but win against Butler, they face a test in a road game with a D-III team.
I had them with a win over Sac, but as I said before, I was counting on Sac to protect a lot of players for the move that didn't happen, but upsets happen too. I also see them winning at Idaho State.
6-6 overall, 4-4 in the Big Sky.
