Weber State-Montana Highlights

It was a butt kicking that Weber was ready to give out. They outplayed Montana in every aspect. I just hope that the Griz take their tail from between their legs and finish out the rest of the season. Could be a good wake-up call for this team. They still have a 1 game lead with 5 to play which is huge

That was a butt kicking in every sense of the word. its going to be interesting to see how the Griz respond to having their hats handed to them.

The game reminded me of the Rocky movies. You see Apollo Creed (Montana) really not training and going into the fight -thinking that pure talent will kill Rocky (Weber) or Rocky and Mr. T. IMO Weber was pissed about last game and the scuffle after (don't know who really started it),were focused and no one was going to beat them last night. Montana - maybe believing their own press clippings - were not ready for a full-on Weber fight and looked the part. Next time there will be no surprises. Montana will be more focused and Weber will be ready, but not as fired up because they blew Montana out. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Watching both of the games,

I truly believe that Weber State is the better team top to bottom. I thought that after the first game. Truly I thought last night was likely to happen. First because it is in Ogden and secondly the things that won the game for the Griz were not likely to happen a second time.

There were too many things that happened in the first game that were statistical oddities. The Griz didn't play spectacular defense in the first game but was aided by an other worldy shoot percentage from the field and at the line.

The interior post issue with WSU is a significant issue. Their ability to score at the basket with their bigs free's up a ton of space. In years past the UofM has been able to isolate WSU's best perimeter shooters and limit their impact. That happened to a degree in game one, but last night their would be no denying what has been a truth about WSU all year: They can flat out shoot. In a way that makes them incredibly dangerous team to play.

As much as I hate to say this, WSU might be a 'more' dangerous team come NCAA tournament time than the UofM. I like UofM's individual talent of Cherry and Jamar, but their depth in their starting five is something to applaud at this point.

Weber now leads the nation in FG% and is 3rd in the nation in 3P%. But I still think it will come down to whoever hosts, and UM still has the inside track there. I'm never confident when it comes to Weber and the conference tournament.

Have to agree. I watched the Wisconsin game and it was boring but they have some bigs that Montana does not have. Weber has the bigs and the shooters to throw a balanced attack at a team.

....our griz have gotten by thus far with limited interior play supported by some great perimeter play. Weber exposed us and evidenced what will likely happen to griz in big time play. Weber is better balanced for a shot in NCAA. We are doing very well playing without big time size....just think what we would have with a Qvale type underneath!
....sigh
