Wasting my life away reading Bleacher Report and came across this.

I guess the good people at BR believe Weber is better then Montana because they've had a lottery pick/nba roy. I did a little research and I don't believe that's true. Here's what I came up with. I went back over the last 5 years and compared overall records, conference records, head to head records, all conference selections, awards and tourney births.

Most every stat is very similar except for two. Weber has one somewhat misleading advantage in post season record. You have to take into account the tournaments played in and 3 of Montana's tourneys was the NCAA's. That is largely because of the other major deference. Montana owns a decidedly distinct advantage with a 9-4 record and an undeniable 4-0 in Big Sky tournament play. To me that leaves no discussion of who is better. No question Montana is.

Eh, it's year to year. Sure, UM has had better overall seasons in recent history, but this year UM is going to be hard pressed to be "better" than Weber. What I am pleased about is that UM has been better than Weber when it counts. Weber is a better basketball school, though, and there is no doubt about that.

Weber has the better program, but Montana has been the better team over the last few years, and hve won when it mattered.

The two programs are very similar right now, both very good up and coming programs, both have good head coaches, and both have strong fanbases that with winning will only continue to grow. And the matchups between Weber and Montana in hoops are going to start catching peoples eye, like they did last year.

I couldn't agree more. At least in the last several season, WSU is always dubbed "the team to beat" in the Big Sky, but they never can beat Montana when it counts. Does Weber have more talent and better recruiting classes every season? Probably. But until you beat the champs, you aren't the champs. That goes for any sport.
