trust me..a minority of fans think that way. ive seen it posted here, many times!

Yes, I agree. That's why you see alot of "never played the game" or "bad fan" comments from me, or "unintelligent posters" from WaGriz.

AZ, some ( a huge minority of fans) would say that these are grown men who get paid to play college football and they should be able to handle the criticism and not worry about what the fans think. Of course, those same people say that these young men should also worry about what the fans think in termos of wins and losses and worry about what they owe the fans. LOL

Anyone who thinks what you say in the first sentence is a total idiot, in my view. They aren't grown men. They don't get paid to play football (some get a scholarship which covers part of the cost of college, and is a pittance compared to the revenue they bring in for the university). They probably do handle or ignore the criticism, but that doesn't mean they like it. They generally don't worry about what (dumb) fans think, and they surely think those types of fans are total idiots.

I was in the stands after the UNC game in Greeley when the Griz came over to sing the fight song. It was really striking to see the faces of the players after the game. The thing that really struck me was that the players are young people, children really.

Thanks Born2b for the original post, I agree completely.

I like this team. I "believe" they should have won more games. They didn't. So what. They're still playing and working hard. They should hold their heads high. I think they'll get in done in the last game this year.

A former great coach of mine taught me many things back in the day. I'll share two of them and move on. My first year as a starter in AA was my junior year and I happen to lay an incredible lick on the other team's big stud and it happened right in front of our bench. My team and the crowd errupted with cheer, and I talked a little smack and showed I was pretty impressed with myself. My position coach grabbed me and told me what I should have done was helped the other player up and walked away like it was no big deal. That way it be in the back of his mind what just happened was going to happen all night, but by making a big deal out of it, he was thinking it was a one time deal.
You/he are dead right. I have a similar story. In HS we were near the end of our second straight undefeated untied class B season and were playing at the former perennial conf. power. They had provided a lot of smack that they were going to kick our a*s and return order to the conf. Their RB was the State B 100 champ; the first play he comes off left tackle and is met right in the hole by our LB who absolutely annialated him and put him on his back and to be helped off the field. We gave the tackler the complete cold shoulder with only a few comments like, "Quit arm tackling and make some contact!" There were deer in the headlights across the line after that and we had our way with them again. We never celebrated TDs either; we acted like we belonged there. There were more to come.

Don't you just love it when you see a CB, who was just beaten badly, celebrating his tackle and smacking after the first down?

We will make the trip to Missoula Saturday as always, yelling as loud as ever. We all need to help the Griz turn the corner. Disappointing not to have the Big Human there, though.

I wonder if the fans who continually criticize the players (either as a group or individually) have ANY idea how much it weighs on them that they bear the weight and responsibility (and will forever) and stigma of being the group that _______________, whatever ______________ends up being....whether it's a) not having a winning season, b) losing 3 or 4 games in Wa/Griz, c) having a conference record less than .500, or d) any other negative thing that hasn't happened in years and years and years.

The team that ended "The Streak" had the same problem. Didn't hear any of them jumping off bridges.
Blow it out your ass, Oprah.

I love you too, tourist. You might want to seek counseling...

And wouldn't you agree that a 7-4 season would look damned good right now in retrospect?   Ending THAT streak pales in comparison to a sub .500 season...which may or may not have PLAYERS jumping off bridges but if postings are any indication there may be more than a few "fans" lined up on the footbridge the afternoon of the 17th of November.

I'll be along the bridge on the 17th of Nov...oh wait, thats where I always am, at my tailgate.
Like any players read this forum...I do not believe it.
