Momma sow is the nickname for my wife Kathy, we've been together since I worked up the cahoonas sophomore year to ask her to homecoming dance. Well, to be honest with you my best friend, one of the greatest men I have ever met, and starting center for Centerville, Nate(The big Donkey) McSloy, asked her out to the dance for me:-/ The team gave me shit for not manning up but hell, we have been married together 34 years now and not a day goes by where I don’t see her in maroon and silver. Summer following one hell of a Senior year in football I was riding high with honorable mention all conference accolades and more importantly a state championship banner hanging in the Centerville high school gym. I still go back to that banner often. I knew at that point in my life that breeding Griz cubs was on the top of my bucket list. So I brought momma sow down to the place where Buck and I had steak and eggs every Sunday after church and the place where I could get Kathy the best god damn steak around, the Lone Star Steak house and saloon. For good measure I zipped up my wranglers, put on my collared maroon shirt that had never been worn before and cleaned up my bright white russel athletic shoes (Buck suggested my dress shoes I got at pay less two year prior, but I knew deep down inside comfort led to confidence) The rest is history. Momma Sow is the best Griz Fan I know and has done one hell of a job raising our six Griz cubs. Sometimes after a loss I’m not proud to admit that I get so down in the dumps where I isolate myself from the surrounding world and refuse to continue with lifes little activities. This is something I have had to confront with the help of my wife, Kathy. She has been my “pick me up.”
And that’s where we are at Griz nation, sometimes we need a "pick me up" I know this is tough, I know you may not have thought we’d be in this position. But it is through adversity that we become stronger, find new ways to achieve, and come to know that through perseverance in the face of challenge, we can accomplish anything. We will win more national titles and continue or domination over the boobcats, you have my word. Let’s get through this together and don’t be afraid to lean on someone within the Griz community, we are all in this together, we are Montana.
