Looks like all your work is paying off. According to the Missoulian, your boy may be on the short list. http://missoulian.com/display/inn_sports/sports02.txt

If he gets the job, how much do you receive as his "agent"?? I'm thinking %50 sounds good. I'll negotiate the deal for you, say for %50 of your cut

Either of the Pac-10 boys would fit as well. Word on my street is that if Bob Hauk lands the job, Tim "The hit man" is sure to follow.

I think Geaux compared the "who's next" transtition period to anticipating opening a christmas gift. I think it's more like the anticipation of getting at what's under the prom dress your date is wearing. Yah, the dress looks good on, but it looks even better wrinkled up, laying on the floor in the morning. Unless it's polyester, that $hit doesn't wrinkle

Jesus Grizfnz, you are a HORN DOG aren't you ??? I talked to the wife about moving to the NEZ and she said she'd consider it if we could get a guaranteed aisle seat. So who knows Grizfnz... you may not have seen the last of me yet. I still have real doubts the expansion will take place now however.

Back to the topic at hand...
Why I'd like to say that Ronbo is solely responsible for finding this guy, I find it highly unlikely that he is. Hogan isn't a dummy, and I doubt that he opened his emails and said... "Hmmmm, this Ronbo guy might just be onto something."

AD's have their feelers out all the time, just in case something like this occurs.

Kudos for finding the guy and giving us all kinds of data regardless.

P.S. I was enouraged by Hogans statements that he'd like to find someone who is more pass oriented, seeing as how the fans like it and pay to see it.

Only time will tell now...

Ok, after much researching over the past not quite 24 hours, I have now officially jumped off the Van Diest Bandwagon and on to the Kelly one. Wow! I am impressed with this guy and would love to see what he could do with talents like Ochs and our receiving corps. I just got a tingly feeling all over!!!! :D

I am pleased that Kelly is on Hogan's list. He is the real deal. We won't know what his real interest in the job is until after his game tomorrow. It really helps to bring in a head coach who would hopefully bring most of his staff with him. If we hire an assistant from another school a staff has to be put together piecemeal and it can take a long time for all the parts of the machine to work together efficiently.

Please, Wayne, give him a call tomorrow after he wins the National Championship! Watching Grand Valley State play Valdosta State wasn't on my viewing list a week ago but I will be watching intently tomorrow. I suspect that a lot of GRIZ fans will be taking notes!

You know I am too!

Where have our greatest coaching staffs come from? Division II.

Don Read from Div. II Portland State.
Joe Glenn from Div. II Northern Colorado.

It only makes sense to rob the best from the Division just below. It happens to 1AA several times each season.

I like Kelly to a certain degree. But i hope nobody makes the assumption that we'll have a wide open offense with him.
280 yards passing per game average is not a lot.
215 rushing is alot of running.

I never cared for our offense that we had this year. Granted I'd rather have the W, but Read's offense was unpredictable, charismatic on the field, and put the points on the board. 65% pass/ 35% run. That's what I'd like to see. Our running backs, be them young, are no Yo's, so screw the run.

OK I've had to defend Kelly on the Grizzlyboards because people are saying he runs an option attack. That's ridiculus. Here's my posts.

Grand Valley's QB threw for 3330 yards this season and 48 TD's. They had two wide receivers that combined for 155 catches, 2200 yards and 38 TD's. (1)Our QB would have won the Payton award with those numbers, (2) there is not one of you out there that would not have been THRILLED if we had two wide outs with those numbers. This is a pass first team, look at the numbers.

They completed 251 passes out of 379 attempts for 4052 yards and 57 Td's. Wouldn't you just love the Griz to have those numbers? You apparently have never played. A team runs mostly after going up big on their opponent. Grand Valley averaged 50.8 PPG in 2001. They were WAY up on their opponents most of the time.

By the way the balance of an offense is based on yards not attempts. GVSU passed for 281.5 a game and rushed for 218.8 a game in 2002. That's 56% pass, 44% rush. Pass-oriented but balanced.

Also I'd like to comment on the statement that GVSU rushed more than Rice in 2001. They couldn't be stopped, of course they had many more attempts than most teams in College Football. The Grand Valley State offense had 1055 plays compared to 751 for Rice, your argument quickly falls apart. I'll place money on the fact that the second and third teams accounted for at least 1/3 of the rushes after the game was well in hand and the first sting was on the sidelines.

Also the Grand Valley QB's had a 7 TD passing game in 2002, and two 6 TD passing games, one 5 TD passing game, and two 4 TD passing games. This is just one year! 2002! How many multiple 4+TD passing games did the Griz have? And for that matter Hawaii? You know what the all-time record for TD passes in a game at Montana is? 6 by DD. Two guys are tied for second all-time with a 5 TD game, one of those is Brandon Neill. What's the all-time passing TD record at Montana? Is it 57? Grand Valley had 57 in 2001. Is it 48? Grand Valley has 48 so far this year with anther game to play. It's 51 by DD in 1995 when he won the Payton. I think we were considered pass happy then. Weren't we?

I just see a guy that gets the absolute most out of his team. Not afraid to run up the score. Uses a fairly balanced attack to lead the Nation consistantly in offensive numbers. Must recruit well, never has had a losing season. We have player rating sheets that get distributed to the coaches for recruiting. If a guy is a good recruiter and can convince players, he can do it in Michigan, Montana, Oregon, or Florida. Doesn't matter. This guy gets top players. I think I read over 50 All-Americans, 4 Harlon Hill Winners, which is the Division II Payton. And 7 players in the pros.

Coach Kelly sounds like a great candidate. I hope that Hogan has an appointment to speak with him soon!

In regards to Dave Dickenson's records, I have always wondered how many 7 or 8 passing touchdown games he would have recorded if he had not "sat out" most of the 3rd and 4th quarters. And how many yards he would have added to his career passing record.

You could say the same for Grand Valley too. I'll bet their second and third teams have seen most of the second half action the last two years. And I'll wager they ran much more than they passed in the second half.

That would have been interesting to see but if you are projecting him to play the whole game to see how many more TDs and yards we would accumulate you would also have to factor in how many more sprained ankles, twisted knees and separated shoulders he would have too and then have to sit out the next game or two.

Dave rules! I know it, you know it, and that gay Spokane Griz Hater knows it. Rumor has it that SGH used to be a Griz fan... sending Dave pictures of himself in his Speedo Thong Junior, but when Dave didn't reply back and just put a restraining order on SGH... well, Spokane Griz Hater became very bitter. It's all history from there on.
