Washington huskies/fcs connection

Well, 1-A is baby steps better than before, but that's laughable. Florida State and Georgia deserved the selection to the First Four... (Not Final Four when they start with that) ...
Baby steps indeed, and it’s taken flippin’ forever to even get here. Still, some of us – perhaps you too – remember when it was all total chaos. Way back then, you could, and sometimes did, have multiple “national” champions … depending upon which poll you chose to follow. It certainly gave fans plenty to bitch and complain about from late winter into the next fall. It got no better when the “bowl coalition” (or whatever they called it, year-to-year). The big boys got together and begged one of the four major bowls to schedule the two “best” teams to meet for one final “championship” game. Remember that? That approach was always hampered by the contractural thing between the Big-10 and (then) Pac-10 to have their conference champions meet in the Rose Bowl. There were some notorious cases where that screwed the whole pooch. Even as they “improved” their approach by finally going to the four-team format, the results were generally laughable (as you say) or infuriating, or both.
[Cont'd] I like the current 1-AA format, if you are seeded you get the much deserved week off. With 12 teams, there would be no such thing.
I must say the 24-team format has worked out far better than many of us thought it could. That’s even with the NCAA politics that requires the inclusion of teams that couldn’t possibly qualify on their records or strength of schedule. The eight seeds/byes make for a nice clean break in the field … and there’s always a chance for an upset. (Who knows, maybe the NEC champ might surprise someone :) .)

Of course there would be. Four seeded teams that are off while the other 8 play one another. Most sensible, there's never been a 1AA/FCS national champion that was not in the top 12.

Well yeah, I remember multiple National Champions when Washington shared it with Miami in 91. As said, I wasn't a Husky fan, but lived there and had to hear about it constantly. I tuned out 1-A completely unless a Wazzu game was on, and pretty much ever since have ignored it.

I might get back into 1-A if the playoff system next year goes off without a hitch... If this year's Liberty type team (Where I also lived) isn't in it next year, I will never pay attention to 1-A.

There's a chance for an upset in 1-AA, and 1-A as well... There isn't a sports fan that isn't aware that 12 seeds seem to knock off 5 seeds a lot during March Madness, including the Griz under Krystko.

UAlbany knocking off Idaho is the only upset this year, but it can happen.

So, if there was 12 teams, 4 would have a bye even though when there were 16 teams, nobody had a bye?

If the griz win on Sunday, and the huskies win on Monday, then I think that would make the griz double national champions, because of 13-7

Try this on: With 12 teams and NO byes, that leaves six winners…those six play and that leaves THREE winners…hmmm what to do, what to do? But if in the FIRST round 4 teams get byes, and EIGHT teams play, that leaves 8 teams standing, which turns to 4, which turns to 2 which turns to 1.

That would be perfect in the eyes of 1-A

Three Winners...

Team 1 goes to the Championship based on absolutely nothing while Team 2 and 3 play to see who joins Team 1.

How different would that be than now?

Just admit you brain farted and move on.

That doesn't happen to me, and there's no possible reason to even think that when what I just said is very viable and would be done by the worthless 1-A if they came up with it themselves.

No. Washington didn't earn it. They won 1 game to get to the "Championship".

Grew up in Western WA, never liked them... Always rooted for Wazzu.

On a side note, I will be paying attention when the 1-A has something that actually resembles a playoff next year, until then I won't watch the "Championship"

14-0 isn't earning it? It is a messed up system for sure. But they earned being there. Talk about not earning a New Years Day Game would be Liberty. Now that was a joke.
Got that...Huskies are for real! Although they have won major games down to the wire, (sorry Cougs for the Apple cup by 1 pt). Griz has former Coug Rosenbach on staff, also a guy by the name of Hauck a former Husky staffer...we win! Yes I'm in heaven, my two alums UW/UM....thing is Griz beat UW a couple of yrs ago!!! Sun/Mon hopefully win/win!!!!
