Was Ellis Awarded His Medical Redshirt

I was wondering whether or not Ellis Henderson was awarded a medical redshirt for sure bc of his issues last year. I had heard he was applying for one, but I'm not certain it has been announced whether he received it. I have seen a couple comments from posters saying he has two more years, but are we sure?

Yes.

He's a RS-Jr on the roster.

I still remember originally AJ was told by compliance he would not be eligible for it. I tweeted to AJ the information Gee gave him was incorrect, after I checked the game participation list. AJ then retweeted he might be eligible. Shortly after, he was found eligible for a medial redshirt. I honestly don't know how a mistake or oversight like that could be done at the level it was? It took a fan to point out the U of M was wrong!

Either way, I'm happy Ellis got that year back. Even happier he is healthy again and has his medial problem under control.

Would NOT surprise me. He's only about 5 years from being Social Security eligible.

I'm sure glad my favorite Griz grey-shirted out of high school at Hawaii, then chose the Griz over PSU when he transferred out of Hawaii, and was granted a medical red-shirt last year while at Montana...that means he will be a 6th year player in 2016. AWESOME. Age-wise, It will be like having a 1st or 2nd year NFL receiver on our team then!

Glad to hear he got the Big Sky waiver for medical hardship and that the NCAA followed suit on that part. Hoping for good news as well he gets the academic waiver from the NCAA. One would think his situation is the blueprint for such a waiver, but weirder things have happened with the NCAA. So he's not 100% eligible to play yet this season....a which is scary....but I think he'll get the green light.
