Was Delany a better coach than Stitt ever will be?

Great guy, great person, players liked him, Butte tough, righted the ship......not an incredible football coach. Glad he got his shot.

Actually an incredible football coach, just not an incredible HC. There is a reason he coached for so many years; he was a very good one.

I'd prefer Mick Delaney any day. Even in basketball.

Knowing that coaching is far and away more than simple W's and L's, but the shaping of young mens lives into quality human beings, I think many of you in the coming years who clambered for Delaney to leave will be wishing he were still at the helm. What say you?

You've cheapened yourself with this post. You can bash X's and O's all day, but you shouldn't denigrate someone's character lightly. I'm 100% confident that Bob Stitt will mold his players into quality human beings, while I'm only 95% confident that we'll beat the Cats every year he's here.

BTW: as an aside, I like most everything about Stitt except his cockiness, but that I can get over...he reminds me, of me!

Nice try. Delaney was the right man for the time. That time has passed. Mick is a great man and righted the ship. Stitt is a good man also and will turn this ship into a speed boat. My advice to you is worry about your ship, your sinking ship. And while you're at it find a new AD because Peter Fields isn't worthy, and unlike Ash, he has no class.

Mick Delaney VS Rob Ash? Both damn nice men and good coaches. One got fired the other retired.

MSU needs to get it's act together and that fact is noted above.

Three years more for Stitt and it will answer itself...four years from now we can determine Choate an his ability!

The hardest job a coach is ever given is the righting of a ship that has lost it's sails, keel, and rudder. Delany served UM a wonderful gift of gracious competitiveness and legitimacy following a very dark season. As I said in the OP, it's not always X's and O's that a coach is judged on...IMO, particularly when the task is to retool after a dark season! :clap:
