Wake Forest radio announcer fired after school concludes he gave opponents info

"Wake Forest radio announcer Tommy Elrod has been fired after the school said an investigation found he had been giving Wake Forest opponents information about the Demon Deacons since 2014."

“I am extremely disappointed that our confidential and proprietary game preparation was compromised,” Clawson said. “It’s incomprehensible that a former Wake Forest student-athlete, graduate assistant, full-time football coach and current radio analyst for the school would betray his alma mater. We allowed him to have full access to our players, team functions, film room and practices. He violated our trust which negatively impacted our entire program.”

Hearing this morning that Petrino's staff may have been the recipient of some of the information?

Zen is correct....

OK. Everyone raise their hand if they are SHOCKED to hear that Petrino would be involved in anything like this.... :o

It's a good think UM's radio announcer has never worked at MSU or has any connections with any of the coaches over there.

I honestly think it is amazing that this story has somehow become about Petrino...the radio announcer is the culprit. What was the coach supposed to do? He came across information, he shared it. He didn't ask for the info, he didn't film practice. I am not a big Petrino fan, but why is he the only one in this whole story who is taking any heat?

Are you kidding. He is SUPPOSED to do the right thing. He is SUPPOSED to report it. He is SUPPOSED to be honest.

I honestly think you are giving way too much credit to the coaching industry. My bigger point is there are many other coaches and schools involved if this is as big a deal as the initial story has indicated it is. If this information was from a phone call an assistant had with the announcer, I honestly think that is different than Bobby Petrino seeking out the guy. Why is Bobby Petrino the story?

Did you see the article a few weeks back about recruiting and cheating a few weeks back? I will see if I can track it down, but it was fascinating.
