Today is National Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. If you know a Vietnam Vet. Today would be a good time to acknowledge his/her service.

I was a UM undergrad back then, and there was NO troop support in the media, NOTHING!!! Reality sucks.
'This revisionist tripe is nauseating.

I returned to UM in 1971, grew my hair out and kept quiet about being a Veteran.

Many who now want to pat you on the back were the same people who would spit in your face during the war. One of the positives to come out of the VN War was the realization that servicemen (and women) deserve respect for their sacrifice.

I salute all our troops and veterans.
But do not think that the hatred for the military is nonexistent. This year in one of my son's classes a professor said our troops are all brainwashed.

Thank you, maroonandsilver and all other vets, Vietnam, Korea, WW2, whenever, for serving our country!

I thank all Veterans, but especially past generations... If it wasn't for WW2, we would be speaking Japanese or German... That, besides Afghanistan, were the only justifiable wars in my opinion, excluding wars before WW2...

When I got back from Iraq, both on my leave and permanently, we were treated like rock stars... I didn't pay for food or drink at any layover in the US, and got discounts in Ireland and Germany...

When I talked to my Vietnam buddies, I made sure to mention that if not for them, my generation would be unwelcome...

This! Hindsight towards the treatment of those who served prior resulted in America getting right. Thank you Vietnam Vets!
