Never heard of it before. Got curious in its run in the NCAAs. Thought it was just another of those little liberal arts schools nestled in the Virginia hills. Why a school that size hasn't been more a contender in football is beyond me. Guess it's a matter of focus and mission.

Its basically like saying Virginia State U as Va is a commonwealth rather than a state.

That said, no idea why they have no football presence...

School size isn't always an indicator of successful athletics.. I mean, there are JUCOs in California bigger than UM and most MWC/WAC schools. But like you said, probably just how they focus their university. The opposite can be said about Air Force and TCU, both have enrollments of less than 9000 but are pretty successful in the athletic arena. Even a school as widely known and in a conference of giant schools such as GA Tech and Vanderbilt, their school populations are comparable w/ UM. Just depends how a school focuses its resources and time..

Nice job, and very true, MrT! :thumb:

But, who helped you write that, 'cause I know you didn't do it by yourself!??!? Was it Pols, (  ), BW, or Chris?

VCU is in the heart of Richmond, and has mainly been a commuter college. They are working on beefing up the residental portion of the school. They are also looking into buying the Richmond City Stadium.

VCU and GMU, both primarily commuter schools in VA, are large, with no football. Will they follow ODU's lead? Only time and money will tell.

VCU is located in Richmond Va (population 200,000) with three campus locations. VCU has a medical school that is ranked 58th in the country. They do not have a football program, but I understand they are looking in to starting one.I would love to see them start up a football team. That would be awesome, JMU, RICHMOND, W&M , ODU AND VCU all within three hours of each other. Go CAA !!!
