The University of Idaho has identified senior wide receiver Dezmon Epps and junior cornerback Isaiah Taylor as the two football players involved in a shoplifting incident Aug. 16 at the UI VandalStore.

The store was closed to the public and only open to the football team.

Surveillance cameras captured Epps and Taylor stealing clothing items were valued at about $400, according to a police report from the Moscow Police Department.

In the video the two players were witnessed shoving the clothing into a red backpack, while other items were concealed in one player’s pants.

According to a statement released Thursday by the University both players were sanctioned by Head Coach Paul Petrino.

Taylor has been removed from the team because he did not comply with the sanction. Epps has complied and remains on the football team.

The University also released this statement from John Bales, director of the VandalStore:

"The VandalStore team is committed to the success of our students and we won't lose that focus. As a team, we will learn from this experience and improve. I've taken steps to ensure the operation of these events, where university groups are provided access to the VandalStore outside of normal business hours, is better managed going forward."

Epps and Taylor both participated in Idaho's season-opening game on Sept. 3.

Epps has had rocky tenure with the Vandals off the field.

In July, the senior receiver was sentenced to two days in jail after pleading guilty in Latah County Magistrate Court to driving without privileges.

The 22-year-old from Sacramento, Calif., was charged with driving without privileges and driving without an ignition interlock device after he was stopped for speeding on state Highway 3 in May. By pleading guilty to driving without privileges, the second charge was dismissed.

Following the incident, a team spokesperson said in a statement that the situation was “being handled internally.”

Epps was kicked off the UI football team during the summer of 2013 for a "violation of team rules" after he was arrested for alleged petit theft from WinCo in Moscow. The charges were amended to disturbing the peace, which he pleaded guilty to, and he was ordered to pay $355 in fines.

He was allowed back on the team this past spring. Petrino complimented Epps' ability to "keep his nose clean and stay out of trouble" during his one-year absence.

He was also found guilty of driving under the influence in Pullman last spring, an offense for which he served one day in the Whitman County Jail.

Epps did not play in 2014, but in 2013 he was Idaho's top receiver. He recorded 79 catches for 980 yards

Jeez, there are 2nd chances but Epps seems to need about 9. If they don't cut this guy loose then they are really stupid.
