USD Game Review

I was lucky enough to be at this game. Here are my thoughts:

1.) Derek Sevlvig makes this team so much better with his basketball IQ and incredible vision.
2.) The griz are young, but I thought Henderson & Deshields were excellent on and off the court. Reletless support on the bench for their teamates and great attitudes.
3.) Tinks needs to just let them play and Kareem needs to shoot the open shot when he has it.
4.) Ward was good on offense but extremely lost on defense, I hope he figures it out.
5.) Overall it was great game but the Griz for some reason still go cold for about 3-5 minutes in each half like they did last year. If they can put 40 minutes together all the time they will be great!!!

OC, I agree with all your points, as for (3) Tinks has to get these guys to believe they can hit an open 3. It is starting with Jamar. The 3 ball killed the GRIZ last year, and has not been so good early this year. We have the shooters, just they have not been ready to shoot the past few years. I like seeing the better shooters given a green light. Jamar, Weisner, Selvig, Ward (if right at the line), Gregory, Henderson, etc can all hit the 3 consistently, and Cherry (but only when he is feeling it), we need be better this year from 3. Especially without a proven inside game to turn to.

The "Selvig illusion" strikes again! He has one good game shooting the three and everyone jumps on his bandwagon. Of course, we know that he will disappear for several games before another 3-point outburst. Any team smart enough to take the three away from him renders him useless.
