Five ranked teams have a Bye this coming weekend, which makes it harder to find good matchups. (The idle teams include #1 NDSU, #9 SDSU, #18 YSU, #19 E. Kentucky, and #20 Richmond.) Among the remaining games for ranked teams, none are against another ranked team. Sigh.

Even so, there are several important games coming up. As just one example, consider the Chattie game. They’ve had a rough start to the season ... but that’s all OOC. Samford already has a SoCon win, but the Mocs can jump-start a run for the auto-bid right now.

The Stony Brook situation is somewhat the same. They’ve had a rough start, but that’s all OOC. And W&M has been feasting on Pioneer and MEAC teams. Now both teams have to get serious as they start conference play.

So, overall, there are some interesting games coming up, despite the lack of ranked-vs-ranked.

Underdog on the left, one choice allowed.

Hmmm, still two team that no one thinks have a chance.

I tend to agree on the W-S Illinois shoot-out, mainly because the Salukis are at home. Still, Western's only losses were to FBS teams (one of which is ranked).

I do think Holy Cross has a bit more of a chance in this matchup, mainly because they are at home. Also, they apparently have a stud player-maker who leads the FCS in all-purpose yards.

C'mon folks. Except for the Liberty matchup, all of these games open conference play. There should be more interest than just 19 votes. Remember last year when Samford, Chattanooga, and Furman tied at the end of the season? Furman got the auto-bid through some strange kind of tie-breaker. So ... "every game counts."

Sorry Ida, I just don't know enough about teams outside the Big Sky (with a few exceptions) to vote in these. If I voted, I would literally be guessing between all the match-ups. I think these are interesting though, I just wish I knew more. I wonder if other people on this board are as ignorant as I am about teams outside the BS.

I'm not that much ahead of anybody -- until I go look up records, etc. Actually, if we didn't have the sports package on DirecTV -- which allows us to see a few of these other FCS games -- I probably wouldn't be very interested myself.

I follow all of the FCS, not obsessively so, but I watch the conference standings and look for interesting match ups, etc. But as IdaGriz mentioned, this is sort of a lackluster weekend in general...nothing like last weekend. I'm with the majority on this week's potential upsets; I think JMU has a good shot at knocking off Delaware.

Well if you're giving me the green light to vote on records alone... HERE I GO!!!!!!! :)
