Southern Utah has the bye this week. Three of the mathcups are crucial -- none more so than the CP-NAU. Now that Northern Colorado is “on a role” (two wins in a row), and are at home, they again get to play the favorite. (As before, teams on the left is the under-dog.)

At the “loser bowl” -- ISU-WSU -- you have to go with the fact that ISU has not won a game since “thumping” mighty powerhouse Black Hills State in its second game, while WSU eked out a 2-point win against So Utah a couple weeks ago.

I'm going with PSU bouncing back and taking out EWU. Not because I think it WILL happen, but because I'd like for it to.

I’m a bit surprise more aren’t picking North Dakota to “upset” (really?) Northern Colorado. North Dakota has a better (by one game) record than NoColo, yet played a much tougher schedule: They had six Big Sky opponents in common ... UND won 3 of those, UNC just one. UND had to play EWU and SUU (got a split), while UNC beat losers ISU and WSU. The only reason to think NoColo might win is that they’re at home and they’re on a “streak” (winning their last two games).

there is a lot of confidence on this board considering the Griz' GPI is higher than the conference average. :?

Because UNC is the underdog..

Sadly, based on the number of 8-3 teams that will be looking for automatic bids (see the Non-Big Sky Upsets thread), the loser of the NAU-CP game seems very likely to be left out.

Yah, my bad. (Had it right over on the other thread.)

Fixed it.

I see that a CP upset of NAU is coming on strong with voters. If the Gridiron Power Index (linked on the non-Big Sky upset thread) really is important, perhaps the loser won't be bumped from the at-large field after all. The latest calculation has NAU at #6 and CP at #12. That puts them comfortably ahead of four potentially 8-3 teams from the CAA, and way ahead of Lehigh (9-1 and #36 GPI).

It would be SWEET to have four team get in the from the Big Sky.

Here I made NoColo the "over-dog" because they were at home and on a winning streak (two whole games  ). They do not have so much talent that they can afford to lose any.

The Big Sky Conference suspended Northern Colorado cornerback Courtney Hall for one game Wednesday for an illegal hit in this past Saturday's game against Weber State.
This might have been posted, but -- if so -- I didn't catch it.
