Up tempo!!!

I heard from a reliable source that the Griz Men's Basketball program will emphasize a Fast Break strategy this upcoming season! You heard it here first!

Hope this is true. Travis better be willing to go 10 deep, if we go to this style. Also, need more paint defenders than just Anderson.

I will flat out deny that he will do that.
Two chances and slim left town.
Does he need to ?

This uptempo style you speak of would take a revelation of biblical proportions.

although god does work in mysterious ways

By 'fast break' do you mean that shots will go up with 4 seconds left in the shot clock, instead of 1 second?

Or maybe 'up tempo' means that shot clock usage stays the same, but passes happen quicker?

It could also be that time outs are called quicker, or that the game gets over sooner because no time outs are called.

Just trying to wrap my head around this.

I thought that's what they promised when Coach was hired...

Look forget about this notion of uptempo all it does is stir up ideas of hope, it would take a philosophical change of biblical proportions.

Little Johnny says to his teacher, “I think my Dad wants to spank me.”
“Why, Johnny, why do you think that?”
“Cause he done it.”

Well if you have ZERO inside game (even with Mack returning), it makes sense, and I have no faith in Travis bringing in a legit Paint--guy.

It's baffling to me that Paul Westphal revolutionized this style of play in, what?, 1990? at Loyola-Marymount and it really has never been replicated.

Paul Westhead.

I thought Portland State a couple of years ago played that style. I love it. But ya gotta be in shape and you have to have a deep bench.

Others have "half-assed" it, but LMU was truly unique, to this day in their style and tempo. You obviously have to have the right personnel, but don't you think it's odd that nobody has been able to replicate what LMU did?

Well Dick Kinzer of Gillette WY (state title), then Helena High (70-71 State title) was way before his time with run and gun. Kinzer then moved on to Rogers High School in Spokane!

Lets talk about the elephant here, attendance. You start playing even a half-assed version of that and people will come.
What is the down side, hell it's only ( ) the bsc, make some noise.

Westhead had an interesting career. Head coach of the Lakers and won a title. Then Magic got him fired for not being up temp enough and having Kareem as the focus of the offense. Then the time at LMU which was awesome to watch. He then used the "system" in the NBA and NCAA again and failed big time. The key of it working at LMU is that he had players like Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble.
