The thing that always gets to me though is what a weak job they do advertising to get people to the games and to buy into being a fan.

That's not even their BB coach. I think Dave Rice is starting his 3rd year. That's a pic of Kruger. Hope they got a refund.

Part of the problem? Basketball is listed first (alphabetical order? )
Question: Does UNLV BBall still draw better than football? I'll bet it does ... by a lot.

Considering the success they have had on the court over the past 5 or 6 years yea I would say that they draw more than football. But it could change you never know

It probably doesn't hurt that you can walk to the Thomas and Mack from the Strip for the out-of-town crowd.
Some Basketball games are the toughest ticket to get in this town that has all types of world class entertainment. That being said... Take a cab from the strip. From the closest strip resort its a 40 minute walk through a miserable "neighborhood" if you can call it that. Or just stay in the Hard Rock area. Then it's not too bad, although the neighborhood still kind of sucks.

It depends where you are, it's only about a mile and a half from the MGM on Tropicana, but if you're on the north end it's a long ways on crappy sidestreets. I wouldn't even think about it from there. Like you said, not the best area.

After getting busted for putting up a picture of a coach that hadn't been there in 3 years, UNLV claimed THEY never put up the billboard, but that the billboard company was just filling empty billboards....yeah, RIGHT.

That is exactly what happened, actually. Company said so.

"We’re sorry Coach Rice! While waiting for a new vinyl to be produced to go up on the bulletin at 215 and Buffalo, we mistakenly pulled outdated generic copy from our warehouse to cover the blank space. Within a few hours of it being up, the RJ had a story posted covering the faux pas. That vinyl is already down and set to be recycled and more relevant copy will soon be posted in its place.

"On the bright side, this incident proves that people take notice of out-of-home advertising and that old vinyl still looks great! Still, we won’t be making that mistake again. Go Rebels!"
