Over on AGS the UNI fans have been telling us they gave Iowa a game. This hardly shows that but look for the cheap shots by the Hawkeyes. Other videos show the same. I hope our coaching staff is aware of this.

I saw a face mask grab on a reception, but other than that I just saw some UNI ass whoop'n by a powerful & fast Iowa. I am/am not looking forward to that happening to us on Sat.

Go Griz & Go Iowa!!!

The ass whoopin' is obvious. The facemask is flagrant. I don't think most Griz highlight videos display flagrant fouls. Some of the other videos show several blocks in the back. Maybe it is unwarranted but I'm concerned dirty play might be more acceptable in Iowa (see 2001 I-AA semifinal) than elsewhere. On the other hand maybe UNI deserved what they got. Either way if our players are blindsided by these monsters we could be coming home looking more like a hospital unit than a football team.

You had to bring that up didn't you putter. lol

I didn't see any cheap shots.

Funny that UNI can call any one cheap shot artists when they have a coach that won't share films and a punch to the Decoitte groin that made ESPN top 10.

I did not see too much in the way of cheapshots, and I just watched an hour of these different little video's on Youtube. (do a search on Iowa Hawkeye Football)

What I saw:

Big 10 team....big, physical players, great RB's, physical defense...not great at Pass defense, big plays when you throw the ball (ala Purdue). We will have to establish ...some sort of running game.

It will be a tough game... very physical...probably my biggest concern is injury. Has been since day 1 of this game becoming a reality.

Not to burst your bubble too much, but Iowa doesn't really play to stop the pass. For at least last five years or so Iowa has had a "bend but don't break" defense. They play off receivers and allow them to catch the ball underneath for fairly short yardage, then make big hits.

The thought is that it is very tough for teams to sustain a drive downfield, even when Iowa pretty much allows them the underneath passing stuff. It's worked well. Iowa usually comes up with a drive-stopping play somewhere along the way, or they clamp down tight once another team gets inside the twenty and force a field goal.

So it's been a winning strategy. It does allow teams to post some fairly impressive passing stats against us, though, even when they lose.

38-7 is a game huh? That's the score when it was UNI's first team against Iowa's first team. UNI outscored the Iowa backups 14-7 in the 4th quarter.

Yea, we Griz fans wouldn't know anything about that.

I almost choked a glass of milk though the sinus track when I read that.....that's funny. ONLY a Griz fan would really understand what we have been through the past few years with our youngsters.

All that depth on "D" is going to come into play this weekend....we have a lot of salt on our 2 Deep(roster).

We are not UNI.

We will be just fine.

Wasn't UNI better than Montana last year?

I could have sworn I saw them in the Div IAA championship game and I'm pretty sure they were playing a team from out east, not west.

Seems to me the second best team in Div. 1AA got it's collective arses handed to them on the Kinnick turf.

But I'm certain you guys are much better.

I think last year it was Appalachian St. The last time the Griz played NIU we won 38-0.

NIU as in the Northern Illinois Huskies?

Because the last time Iowa played them they won 58-7.

But they gave us a hard time!

No need to get defensive,

I was just curious what makes Montana so much better than UNI. I happen to be a fan of UNI as well as Iowa, and am very impressed with their football program. If you guys are so much better than the Panthers, why didn't you make the championship game?

NIU as in the Northern Illinois Huskies?

O. K. my bad; meant to say Northern Iowa University instead of Northern Illinois University, or is that University of Northern Illinois, whatever. By my NIU I meant Northern Iowa; SO SORRY ABOUT THAT; DIDN'T MEAN TO OFFEND YA !!!

Just an honest mistake; won't happen again; really.

NIU as in the Northern Illinois Huskies?

I guess I'am still not the only one that gets those confused somehow, have to make a name for yourself I reckon. Anyway, unto those Northern Iowa fans that are still pissed off that I missed the mighty distinction between UNI & NIU, or whatever, the latest edition of TSN, that is like in, 'The Sporting News,' Vol. 230 No. 45 dated 10 November 2006 on page 33 in the section called 'Inside Dish' column one I quote:

..;Northern Iowa's Mark Farley, who has won at least 10 games in three of his past five seasons at NIU...

Now this wouldn't be so noticeable except that in their preceeding edition ( dated 03 November 2006) they had an article on a RB by the name of Garrett Wolfe for Northern Illinois; in an article page 18 Northern Illinois was referred to as NIU with a photograph of a helmet with NIU on it as well.

So if you Northern Iowa fans really want to nip this in the bud so to speak give a call down to St. Louis, Missouri (the same that borders both the states of Iowa & Illinois I believe, at least the last time I checked) to some of the mailing offices of American City Business out of Chesterfield (of which TSN is a division thereof) & alert them of this vastly ignored & unforgiveable oversight. I'am certain that your wounded pride might be assuaged somewhat if this case of mistaken identity is corrected, especially from those that are actually paid to know better, I'am not.

You can also call through Boulder, Colorado and/or for Canadian residents to London, Ontario; both are still somewhat closer to Iowa & Illinois than I am so they should get it right sometime in the near future; hopefully for your 'state of mind' to be at peace with the world whenever and wherever such takes place.

Sincerely yours
