"Under the Radar" High School Prospects

High school basketball prospects are often under the radar for good reason. But no matter if you're Montana and not Duke or UCLA--you have to go after them. And we have. We signed Kyle Owens, DJ Carter-Hollinger and Josh Vasquez, all with modest offers from other schools, and we signed them all early. A big risk, no?

Except now, our three "under the radar" prospects are definitely coming onto the radar, at least to those who follow high school basketball in Southern California. I do not know Antonio Losada or David Yapkowitz, but both seem well-informed about the high school scene down there, and this was a recent Twitter exchange between them:

Losada:
Yes Sierra Canyon won yesterday but oh boy I don't have enough words to describe how great @JoshVazquez3 was for Bishop. Incredible performance bro

Yapkowitz:
He’s been impressive this whole season. Montana really got a good one! Between him and DJ Carter-Hollinger, Grizz are loading up on SoCal talent.

Yapkowitz again:
Kyle Owens too!

Unhappily, all three players have ended their high school careers, as Carter-Hollinger's and Vazquez's teams both lost last night in post-season tournaments, while Owens's team lost earlier.

But it's going to be a treat to have all three in a Griz uniform next year. Now our program doesn't re-build. It re-loads.

Vazquez and Carter-Hollinger still have some remaining games. Owens is done for year though.
