Brother Bear said:I really think the Griz should buy out of this game. It is a non-conference game. It was scheduled before they joined the Big Sky Conference. It would make complete sense in a 12 game schedule year that the Griz pick up an extra home game. I would be in favor of getting a home game on September 7th, then move the bye to the 14th. I am not a fan of the early season bye, but you go with the hand you are dealt. It's not that i fear the griz playing @ UND, but why take the extra road game when there isn't a need to. People can bitch all they want about the griz buying out of that game but the fact is, it is the smart thing to do.
Why not just try to keep UND and change sites?kurtismichael said:Brother Bear said:I really think the Griz should buy out of this game. It is a non-conference game. As long as they could find a home game against another FCS team and not another DII team.

We don't need to find another D1 game replacement that way.
Go Griz!

:? :? :? :?Brother Bear said:Good news for UND is you can still play another home game against someone else... and your going to get some money out of the deal too. (Besides avoiding a home loss.) Win-win for all involved. :thumb:
Brother Bear said:Its obviously a great home game for UND. I think the point is, the Griz have an oppurtunity to play 7 home games and have 5 on the road. There is no need for Montana to travel and play another game on the road when they don't have to. Now that UND is in the conference we will be seeing each other more often ti would make complete sense for the Griz to do that. Any smart A.D. would do this if given the opportunity. The University does not plan on changing the venue with UND, there is another opponent that can be brought in on the 7th, thus moving the bye week back one week instead of the 2nd week of the year. Good news for UND is you can still play another home game against someone else... and your going to get some money out of the deal too. I agree that it would be good for UM to buy it out and try to get another home game. I'm not sure how much your AD had to do with scheduling at UND 3 games in a row. Two of the games are conference games which the Big Sky sets up. The other is the back half of a home and home which was scheduled prior to UND being admitted to the Big Sky conference. So not sure how much your current AD had to do with how the 3 road games were scheduled. Does anyone know what the buy out is worth? A poster on siouxsports stated it was $100 k which seems a bit low.
