UND hires Bubba Schweigert

UND made a great hire, he will bring a "Bohl" mentality to Grand Forks.

They will be a competitive force sooner than later and will challenge NDSU in a few short years

If you know anything about UND and NDSU, you only need to know 1 thing.

NDSU 10 National Championships- D2 and FCS
UND 1 National Championship in D2

There are multiple reasons for this and it is not going to change hiring Bubba.

1.) As much as you guys joke around about Fargo, you apparently have no clue what Grand Forks is like. That town is the armpit of North Dakota. It smells, literally all of the time, due to the sugar beat plants. Fargo's metro area is around 250k. Much better nightlife and is a far nicer city. To a recruit, it is a no brainer. If any of you guys come to the NDSU UM game next year, go downtown and see how many college kids from UND come to Fargo on the weekends because there is nothing going on in Grand Forks.

2.) NDSU has better football facilities. The new Sanford Weight room facility is going to be one of the best in all of college football.

3.) At NDSU, football is the number 1 sport. At UND Hockey rules. At NDSU, you can come play in front of a packed house of 19k fans or you can go play at UND in front of 8k fans in an empty Alerus center. Even when UND was good in football, their fan support sucked. Also due to the emphasis in hockey, UND's football coaching salaries peril in comparison to NDSU. NDSU can afford better assistant coaches and retain them for a longer period of time.

4.) NDSU has an Ag program, UND does not. NDSU's offensive and defensive lineman, which are the key to their success, more often then not, are farm boys. Because of this, NDSU always, not sometimes, always wins the recruiting battles for lineman with UND.

5.) UND plays in a football conference in which they are a geographic outlier. Because of this, NDSU is one of the best traveling fan bases in the FCS. This is also is a recruiting advantage as their parents can easily travel to watch their kids play.

Now that's some funny stuff there. Not being part of your instate rivalry, I would have to say Grand Forks is a much nicer community than Fargo. In fact, when I was there last fall, I was surprised at the number of Fargo people who were visiting Grand Forks for he day.

Still, you're both in east North Dakota where the best thing you have going for your community is its proximity to another state--Almost not in North Dakota. Debating whose town is better is like listening to Lame Deer and Busby throw down for bragging rights.

This dude looks as old as Mick!

You trying to argue Grand Forks being nicer than Fargo is like me trying to say Butte is nicer than Missoula.

You are freaking delusional.

Fargo-Moorhead has a college population of 30k when you count Concordia, MSUM, and NDSU all together. It is an awesome place to go to school if you want a college lifestyle.
