UNC's Davis named MVP; UM's Gfeller, Anderson named third-team

Anyone think any men will get anything?

I don't know the BSC men's personnel real well, but I wouldn't be surprised if Whitney (or Beasley or Bannan) got Freshman of the Year. Parker looks like he's got a good argument for Top Reserve. And I doubt he's even in the discussion because of actual stats (like steals or blocks), but Vazquez is my favorite for Defensive POY based off the eye-test. He's just so sticky defensively, he's all hustle, and his close-outs on perimeter shooters are a thing of beauty and should be used as a training tape for the Lady Griz this summer.

I would be shocked if Whitney or Bannen doesn’t win Fr of the year. It would be a crime if they give it to anyone else.

Whitney 29.5m .472fg% 1.9r 2.6a 0.9s 10.2p
Bannen 24.0m .479fg% 5.7r 1.1a 0.6s 9.9p
Jones(WSU) 20.5m .570fg% 5.8r 2.0a 8.0p

I guess maybe Dillon Jones of WSU will probably win t.

Conference play for Freshman

Dillon Jones - Weber. 8.9p/6.3r/2.3a/60%FG
Whitney. 10p/2.1r/3.0a/44%FG
Bannan. 7.4p/4.9r/0.9a/43%FG

I think Freshman of the Year is Jones. But hope I’m wrong.

I beat ya by 7 min :D .And I’m afraid you’re right. Of course Jones had a more experienced supporting cast but definitely overall better numbers.

A little quicker on the draw!!

Plus WSU is the #2 seed, which is an advantage.

Jones would also be in the running for reserve of the year but I don’t think they give him both awards.

I believe the reserve award is between Parker and Tyler Robertson from EWU. Robertson has the advantage of the better team. I think the stats are somewhat even. Parker has the advantage of leading the league in a statistical category which is rare for a reserve.

The awards should come out tomorrow or Tuesday I believe.

Owens may also be in the defensive player conversation. He has a lot of charges which is a measurable stat.

Only Montana award goes to Kyle Owens (Honorable Mention)

I think the BSC got it right. UM is simply not playing as a team but more as a collection of talented players who are in need of leadership. Hopefully, the off season can correct that very obvious flaw but looking at the rosters of the top teams in the BSC, UM is not going to be as dominant as we thought. I would love to be wrong, but........................
