UM's Gratton up for scholar-athlete award
DALLAS -- University of Montana football player and Billings Senior graduate Sam Gratton has been named one of 147 candidates for the 2012 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Each candidate must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, must have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
Gratton, a 6-foot, 198-pound senior wide receiver, is majoring in business marketing at UM and maintains a 3.45 GPA. Through four games this season, Gratton is the Grizzlies’ leading receiver with 14 receptions for 216 yards and two touchdowns.
The NFF Awards Committee will select up to 16 recipients. The results will be announced Oct. 25.
