As a Cat fan I enjoy coming over and reading egriz. Never felt it was my place to post until now. To blame the griz for the stupid things players do after they are off the team is ridicules. That is the same as saying that parents are responsible for the things their 30 year old son or daughter does. Hold the person accountable that committed the crime and not those that may have recruited them or gave birth to them.
As a Cat fan it would be easy to be happy with all the problems over in griz land, but I know how fast it can turn and we could be in the same boat. Hope somehow the griz can keep the boat afloat.

Great first post..... 8-)
Always felt this is your board and to come here and trash the griz is not the right thing to do. Kramer got the shaft and did not deserve it. He may have recruited the kids but by the time they left the program they should have been men. As a man we are responsible for our actions. But then our entire society is about who or what can be blamed for mistakes and choices adults make.

Let's face it; IMO we both "had" coaches that recruited athletes based on their athletic
ability, not their character. With Kramer the pressure was on bigtime to end the years
of dominance by the Griz and with bobby, the pressure was on to fulfill and maintain their
dominance. From a recruiting standpoint, FCS schools don't get to pick from the top of
the barrel so bad kids come into our schools, find it a target rich environment and decide
to hang here. I don't think either schools current coaches roll that way now.
Gone are the days when you'd buy a guy a bus ticket and say " GET THE F*#K OUT AND
DON'T COME BACK;; EVER!! Too bad.

Please excuse my digresssion:

In response to your idiotic post. "Patrick Bendig and 19 other people are dead and over 50 people are injured." Something you will never hear when an assault happens with a baseball bat. Yet the NRA, gun-smut owners will never realize that reasonable, responsible steps can be taken to increase gun safety and reduce gun massacres.

*End of digression.

Why is it that when a player does something wrong it is all over the papers but players, whether recruited from out of the area or local, do not get any recognition for the good they do for the community?

For lots of reasons. Sadly much of the "good" they do is not altruistic but rather building on their "celebrity" Or there is a community event and some doofus shows up drunk. There are many students groups and individuals doing more (LOTS MORE) on a regular basis. (Student Athletes really don't have much time to themselves, BTW so ANY thing they do is a a sacrifice) Rarely anymore do the do anything as a team.

But the really big reason is poor PR from the athletic department. It seems stuff doesn't come out much.

When stuff does come out it comes out from boosters who make the whole think look foolish. Seriously A couple guys get busted for beating someone up and another gets 30 years for rape, and some well intentioned booster says BUT one of the guys called a deaf kid.....
