UC Davis Regular Season Predictions

Interesting year awaits UC Davis who loses All-American QB and RB, but their defense is stacked with returning starters (Rex and Porter Connors). Let's dive in!

August 23 Mercer - W. Week 0 and Davis will participate in the FCS Kickoff down in Montgomery. Like Davis, Mercer was also a quarterfinalist last year losing in the Fargo Dome. The Socon never seems to have any kind of consistent power and I think the Bears take a step back. Great game to open the season and I'll take Davis in a close one.

August 30 @ Utah Tech - W. A chance to preview a future conference opponent. No issues in this one.

September 6 @ Washington - L. I'm not expecting the Huskies to be anything special this year. I'm not very high on Jed Fisch as a coach, but they'll dust Davis in this one.

September 13 BYE

September 20 vs. Southern Utah - W. A second future Big Sky team and over a month will have gone by before Davis plays their first home game. This has the potential to be an interesting game. I like Davis at home though, but this game was close in Cedar City last year.

September 27 vs. Weber State - W. I don't think much of Weber. Davis wins comfortably at home.

October 4 @ Cal Poly - W. Couldn't ask for an easier opening two games in conference play.

October 11 vs. Northern Arizona - W. First true test of conference play. I think this will be a great game but I lean Davis at home.

October 18 BYE

October 25 @ Northern Colorado - W. No issues in this one.

November 1 vs. Idaho State - W. The Hawkins' return to Davis. I don't think it'll be a very good homecoming for them though.

November 8 @ Idaho - L. These final three games are gonna be tough. If they're gonna stumble somewhere, then I think this is where it happens. Games can get funky in the Kibbie Dome. Idaho wins a close one.

November 15 @ Montana State - L. Tough two game road trip. ESPN2 game with a lot on the line for both teams. Lots of playoff positioning on the line. Cats win at home.

November 22 vs. Sacramento State - W. Davis gives Sac one final middle finger on their way out the door.

I got Davis going 9-3. I do see a scenario where they could go 10-1 but that's highly unlikely. I also see a scenario where they miss the playoffs but that's also unlikely. That's my prediction. Thoughts???

That final three could easily be 3-0 or 0-3 depending on how healthy they are going into the Idaho game. Stating the obvious but that's probably the toughest close to the season in the entire BSC...

Looks good. After looking at this, Sac St, Montana, the Kittens, Idaho, and NAU, there are six teams with a legitimate shot at making the playoffs. Of course, the Griz win it all, but that's quite a statement on the Big Sky. There's a chance they might get more bids than the MVC. Of course, they're-the MVC-very top heavy, as we all realize. Gonna be a tough year in the BSC this year. Go Griz!!!

I have the very same results for them and fully agree on your individual game analysis. Interesting, isn't it, they are coincidentally playing the two new members so if you figure it that way, they have a 10 game conference schedule.

UC Davis is going to be one of the best teams in the conference with their defense. I think they could easily beat Idaho and MSU as well as upset Washington. Davis got lucky this year by avoiding the best team in the Big Sky.
