Tuff Harris - MT Indian HOF Inductee

Just watched the piece about Tuff Harris on Montanasports.com & watching all the highlights as a Griz, great memories & great athlete. Seems like he was brought up to be a Great Athlete as well as doing well in the class room. Well worth watching Griz fans, perhaps someone can put up a link who knows something about computers!

Besides Tuff, former Lady Griz Simarron Schildt Robertson was also inducted. She looked like she could still play, although she also mentioned that she had 4 kids. Spoke very well. Robin Selvig was there for her induction. Robin, who was inducted into the hall of fame a number of years ago, is the only non-Indian in the hall of fame, I believe.

I sat with Brandt Davidson, former UM d-tackle, who is Sioux. His tribe/family has South Dakota roots. Brandt has lost over 100 lbs since last fall. We talked to Tuff for awhile. Brandt will graduate in May and was his former LG friend.

Spike Bighorn, a former tribal council member of Fort Peck, my tribe, and head of the BIA at Fort Peck, was inducted and visiting from DC area. He was inducted as a referee and is the first referee inducted. Spike was a good hoops player from Brockton and also played for my father-in-law at Miles City CC. Spike, and later the hall of fame co-host Donny Wetzel, introduced Selvig to the gathering.

Don Wetzel Sr., who played for the Griz and also coached the UM frosh team (including Selvig), is very knowledgeable on MT high school sport and certainly of Indian high school sports.

Seth Bodnar spoke at the beginning of the event and spoke very well. The event was well-attended.

The Wetzel, Don Sr. and Don Jr., do a great job with the hall of fame, and are the driving force behind it.

Tuff looked like he could still play too. The level of respect for Tuff in Indian Country was very evidence.

Thanks for the thread, Dillon.

He’s an even better person, than he was a football player. And he’s an all-time great @ Montana. Congrats to Tuff & his family.
