Tru's NFL Combine Profile

TJ recieves an initial grade of 83.5 putting him at the top of the 2nd round. 85 would be a 1st round grade. He measured in at slightly over 6'2" and 205lbs. With a great combine I could easily see him working his way into the 1st round. I have been saying that Tru is a 1st-2nd round prospect since he was a freshman and it has really boggled my mind why many on this board have continually insisted he is a mid to late round guy. Given the fact we play in a lower division its pretty damn easy to spot elite talent when matched up against FCS talent. I wonder what people would be saying if he was from Dillon or Hardin or Helena or Butte or...... Anywho....i'm rambling. See link below.

Baller, I too believe he has early round talent. I also will not be surprised if he ups his stock before the draft. I think the reason many are not so ready to expect more is because it just is not common at the FCS level, that, and a few believe if you are not an angel you are not worthy of better.

I feel your pain though. For the life of me, I have been on Cherry's bandwagon, and his NBA odds since his Freshman year, and yet the reality of egriz is that until something happens, it can't be. Basically very few will be bold because they don't want to be told they were wrong. So even the ones that do believe it, don't come forward to say it.

Personally, I love seeing people go out on a limb in evaluating a player, before it plays out.
I respect the ones that actually do go out on the limb. :thumb:
 
Not only do I want to see Tru drafted highly, for his own compensation, but to rub in the fact that the FCS critics don't know crap.

The schedule says that db measurements are on Sunday. I've noticed some NFl articles saying he's 6'2", 205, but I believe he is taller and heavier.

McSurdy has a pretty good write up too and is pegged on the borderline for a late round pick.

Wont be surprised at all if he officially measures in at 6'3" 210-215lbs....really hoping he runs a sub 4.5 40

Official measurements just got posted. Tru is 6'2" and 204 pounds. I think he lost some weight, I bet he was playing at 215 during the season. McSurdy is 6'1" 245

Yea there is no way he was 204 during the season. I would hope dropping 10lbs will take a tenth off of that 40 time and maybe add an inch or two to his vertical. Really excited to see what those measurable are for Tru. If he is sub 4.5 and hits 37" or better...watch out. Sounds like he is interviewing really well. A lot of buzz going around about Tru saying he sees himself as a "shutdown corner" but is willing to play safety, or even "water boy" if he has to.

Tru's arm length topped off at 33 1/4" which should really open some eyes. The other big corner Dre Kirkpatrick from Alabama has an arm lenght of 30 5/8" and measured in at 6'2" 186lbs.

These measurable will really jump out at teams who are in the market for a big press corners. Advantage Tru.
 
Yes, a lower weight should be beneficial to him in the workouts. Given that he's been at one of those camps, I'm surprised he isn't, apparently, more bulked up. When he was sick for a week or two during the season, he dropped quite a few pounds and didn't recover most of it. The blurb said he was a bit over 6'2". I'll be curious to see exactly what it was, as they measure to the 1/8, I believe. Thx for the updates.

I too had him at an early pick, round one possibly 17th overall. I was told I was crazy and maybe 77th at best. Only time will tell where he goes. I was hoping he would be the highest draft choice for an FCS player ever. This was all in another thread a few months back...

"Shut Dow" Corner in the NFL? Please. With the rules they have now in the NFL you can't even sneeze on the WR's. Why do you think the QB's/Teams are pass happy now (Marino record broken, 4-5 QB's in 4000+ yards every year now). It's ridiculous and hard to watch anymore. I bet the 70's and 80's players just laugh at the NFL rules now.

Tru sounds like he belongs-- he did well in his interview. Interestingly-- he very rarely was interviewed at UM-- not sure if he EVER was in the weekly presser? Someone might be able to prove me wrong-- but I don't recall one ever.

I'm excited for Tru's workout tomorrow-- with the work he's been putting in in Orlando-- I'd be shocked if he wasn't right around that 4.4 area, with good bounce and good reps on his bench.
